1990 Dodge Dakota Convertible Pickup
1990 Dodge Dakota Convertible Description
1990 Dodge Dakota Convertible Pickup. SE Trim Package, 3.9 V-6, Automatic Transmission w/Overdrive. One of only 909 units manufactured for the 1990model year. Finished in rare factory color combination -Spinaker Blue and Daytona Blue. This early1990 model was built in September, 1989 and soldnew by Sigmund Dodge, Dearborn, Michigan. The originalowner mostly garaged and pampered the truck, bringing it to Southern Californiain
1992 atapproximately 6,000 miles.Shortly thereafter, he sold the truckto the second owner who likewise pampered it while using it as adaily driver. I purchasedthe Dakota from him in November, 2004 at 44,000 miles. As thethird owner, I too have mostly pampered the truck, adding approximately 47,000 carefulmiles in my 11 1/2 years of ownership with less than 1,990 miles added in 2015.
I have replaced the following parts/performed the following services to the Dakota:
Current California Smog Certificate (passed January18, 2016).
New saddle blanket seat covers October, 2014 (original seat always covered and in like-new condition - see photos).
New floor mats December, 2014.
New catalytic converter, new Flowmaster muffler and new tail pipe January, 2014.
New convertible top (Key Auto Top) replaced professionally, October, 2013.
New 60 month Sears DieHard Gold battery, 2013.
New water pump, 2012.
New starter.
4 New shock absorbers.
New computer, major tune-up including new fuel injectors, fuel pump and sock strainer, spark plugs, spark plug wires, magnetic pick up coil in distributor, O2 sensor, MAP sensor, etc.
The exterior features the upgraded factory body side moldings, polished aluminum wheel arch moldings, polished front bumper with rubber molding and polished factory rear step bumper and Lund style front air dam and tail gate cap. Front tires are P235/60R 15 and rears, P245/60R 15. The truck also has an Eckhart full frame trailer hitch (personally never towed with) and an 8 pole trailer wiring plug, tonneau cover and matching blue indoor/outdoor carpeting on bed floor.
Original dash is crisp and all gauges work as required. All glass is original and in good condition. The original spare wheel/tire is in its original carrier and looks to have never been on the ground!
I have added a later model Chrysler AM/FM stereo radio/cassette/CD player to replace the Sony aftermarket unit. New antenna assembly from fender to radio (March, 2015). The truck has a substantial sound system upgrade added by one of the previous owners (amps, sub woofers and speakers), all professionally and tastefully installed. The air conditioning blows ice cold and the heater, toasty warm. Manual window regulators. All convertible top rubber seals in good condition.
I have consistently recorded 20+ mpg cruising at California freeway speeds (70+ mph). It is mechanically sound and I would not hesitate to drive this truck coast-to-coast. Some minor oil leaks (valve covers, rear main seal). To my knowledge, the truck has never been wrecked or even in a fender bender, although there are some slight parking lot dings.
Grant GT 14 3/4" diameter wooden steering wheel. Original steering wheel included in sale along with custom wooden dash and door panel overlays as well as most paperwork: original owner's manual, warranty manual, original convertible top manuals, original sound system manual, Haynes Repair Manual and official 1990 Dodge Dakota Factory Service Manual. Also includes the original top boot and various miscellaneous spare parts - fuel injection, etc.
Reluctantly parting with this fine unique truck due to a change in jobs. Happy to answer any and all questions. Never abused and always adult driven. No warranty of any type, expressed or implied.
