1999 550 MARANELLO - 6 SPEED - STUNNING CAR - AMAZING ROAD CAR
1999 Ferrari 550 -- Description
The Ferrari 550 Maranello (Type F133) is a front engine V12 -2-seat grand tourer built by Ferrari from 1996 to 2002. The 550 Maranello marked Ferrari's return to a front-engine, rear-wheel drive layout for its 2-seater 12-cylinder model, 23 years after the 365 GTB/4 Daytona. Not since 1973, when the last traditional front engine 365 GTB/4 Daytona had been produced had Ferrari had a proper front engine V12 car. After 30 months of development, the Ferrari 550 Maranello was presented in July 1996 at the Nürburgring racing circuit in Germany. The model name referred to the 5.5-litres total engine displacement in decilitres and to the town of Maranello, home to the Ferrari headquarters and factory. Pininfarina executed both the exterior and interior design. The 550 has front-engine, rear-wheel drive transaxle layout, with the 6-speed gearbox located at the rear axle together with the limited slip differential. The chassis tubular steel space frame. The engine is a naturally aspirated 65° V12 with 4 valves per cylinder, dual overhead cams. According to the manufacturer the 550 Maranello had a top speed of 320 km/h (199 mph), and could accelerate from a standstill to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 4.4 seconds. This particular car is a great running and driving example with no known issues. Showing 32,850 miles this car has been enjoyed and driven, as they should be. All is in working order having just had a belt service, rebuilt shocks and the dash and gauge cluster re-done within this past year and less then 100 miles on it since. Owned by a collector who is having parking space issues it needs to be sold being his last purchase so the first to be sold. Unlike some of his other cars that have 30 year long term ownership with more of an emotional tie. The car drives smooth and pulls hard with no odd sounds or noises. It has a great shine and if you look close at the video and pictures you can see the deep fantastic reflection. No dings at all or dents. All 4 wheels are in great condition with no curb hits at all. These cars are climbing fast in price, aware that the miles on this car are the only thing keeping this from being priced at 175K-225K. You have a great oppurtunity here to get into one of the last great 6 speed cars for a price that is within reason. A few things that need to be noted. You have some very very fine road chipping on the front right fender as well on both side vents behind the front wheels. This is so fine it did not show up in the pictures or whould have posted but wanted to point out. One of the small Ferrari center caps is cracking and the drivers seat has signs of wear shown in the pictures and video. You also have one chip on the hood to the right of the scoop and some on drivers rocker from feet getting in and out. All have been touched up and cant be seen at 5 feet away. The front bumper cover was painted and it looks like the roof has been painted as well but done good and most would not tell. Again, this is GREAT GREAT driving car in VERY good condition and priced as such. If your looking for a one owner car that has never had paint work and low miles this is not the car for you and you will pay much more for that. But, if your looking for a great looking and driving car that that has many more miles left on it that can and should be enjoyed for many more miles this might be the car for you.
