It has been nearlytwo decades since the introduction of this model and there may be no better choiceto get into your first Ferrari than the 360 Modena. It looks as modern and perhaps more Beautiful than any Ferrari sold today (which are becoming videogame-ish in the looks dept) and can be purchased for cheaper than a brand new BMW M3 while offering way more panache and soul.
This mid-engine Ferrari 360 Modena is fitted witha 400 HP 3.6-liter V8 and six-speed F1 style paddle shift transmission. This Ferrari 360 Modena is no slouch by any means. Not to mention the exhaust note will go down in history books as one of the best sounding cars ever, but even more profound is the Novitec upgraded exhaust featured on this car. This is hands down the best sounding Ferrari I have ever heard.
The 360 Modena has been said to sprint to 60 MPH in just under 4.4 seconds and tops out at around 186 MPH. Ferrari's goal was to make a more everyday friendly exoticsports car, that was not only more reliable, but also faster around the Ferrari test track, than the previous model 355. Needless to say, the 360 Modena exceeded all expectations.
For the ultimate driving experience, this 360 Modena can be driven in Sport Mode which makes quite a few radical changes. For one, the already quick F1 Transmission upshifts even quicker, to the tune of 150 milliseconds. Downshifts are also enhanced with automatic throttle blipping for seamless downshifts.
The Ferrari 360 Modena comes with active suspension that adjust the dampers based on speed, acceleration, and braking. Normal mode focuses on comfort and stability, while Sport Mode will transform making the suspension firmer, which of course is better suited for aggressive driving.
The ASR (traction control) system prevents wheel slipping by adjusting the engine management and rear brakes independently. On the other hand,Sport Mode allows for more wheel slip. So the choice is yours to make when you climb in the cockpit. (You can also fully disable ASR if you choose).
Also while hopping into the cockpit, you will immediately notice the exceptional craftsmanship that Italy is known for.The tan leather hides in this car stretch in all the right places and are held tight by beautiful stitching. This interior is very well kept and shows no wear or scratches you normally see on used seats, the seat condition is as good as it gets in a car that isn't new. If you are expecting the latest technological advancements in a large screen on the dash, you won't find that on a 360. The 360 has a nice radio and ACcontrols. Driving is the core of the essence of the 360 Modena, as expected in a Ferrari.
The mid-engine layout is nicely balanced, soturnsand sweeping cornersare where the 360 shines. With a curb weightat just under 3,300 lbs, the 360 Modena isagile and fun. The400 HP is enoughto induce genuine smiles every time you climb in for the next ride. On the straights, the 360will pick up speed in the higher range of the powerband whilehowling to an 8500 RPM redline. The brakes are supplied from none other than Brembo so you can expect the disc brakesto stop you on a dime.
Driving a 360 will make you feel like an F1 driverand always give you a sense so very enjoyable, you'll be Glad you bought this car while likely never tire of it. Every little input or adjustment you make is near instantaneous, making you feel one with the car. That is what makes a Ferrari, a Ferrari.
With the combination of design, good looks that people consistently mistake for fresh, inherent fun, and reliability, this 360 Modena is quite simply not only a wonderful value today, but exhibits the best of both worlds; your daily commute to the office or your weekend blast of fun around town or through the canyon.
THE BAD:
This car's Autocheck Carfax shows a blemish. It shows an accident that was merely cosmetic paintwork to the nose ofthe car. A blemish usually scares potential buyers, and rightfully so, but in this case, there were no parts replaced (in fact the invoice shows $0.00 in parts), no frame damage or other scary things, just paint and labor work to the nose of the car. A copy of the detailed repair receipt comes with the sale of this cardemonstrating the nature of the work andit's relatively smallcost of repair. No big deal here.
Even more significant- The shop that did the work is the oldest Ferrari authorized repair & restoration facility in the country, and one of the finest in the world. It is closely aligned with Ferrari North America, as any car that comes new off the boat from Italy with issues in, paint, leather, or mechanical are sent to this shop before going to the dealer as a new car, with no record it has been repaired. This shop is THAT GOOD as it is the closest thing to an extension of the Ferrari factory in the U.S. and all methods and materials are per factory spec. At any given time there are dozens of cars, many worth ten's of millions of dollars, undergoing work atthis shop.
The paint workdone on this car presents itself without a doubt just as the factory would do, first class, and undetectable. For this reason, we were more than comfortable to take possession of this car, and you should feel the same.
An '03 360 Modena often commands into the low $90's at an exotic car dealer. In this case, the car has already been replaced with anewer model Ferrari by the owner and the Carfax can on the surface lead someone to fear the worst when in fact there is nothing to fear. This car is therefore priced to move quick. This is anyone's opportunity to Ferrari ownershipwith a fun, fast, correctly optioned and colored, great looking car that is also a sincere value..
In fairness, other items to note- There are a couple of chips on the front end, but upon closerinspection you can see they are within the clear bra and not into the paint. I saw 2 other small chips of noteelsewhere on the car, but extremely minor and of course this is not a new car. Some touch up paint is all that's needed. The leather on the interior is extremely nice, but the dash top black leather has a couple of waves in it from age and a photo is posted deliberately so you can see. Part of me feels some time in the sun would tighten that up, but I can't say. There is also one broken leather belt/strap in the forward trunk compartment that holds the tool kit, but I'll assume this is both a minor and easy fix.
A Pre- Purchase Inspection report has been done by the authorized Ferrari facility and isavailable for you to verify the health of the engine and review any any imperfections of a used car. A deal was previously made to sell this car, but the buyer could not get financing, and so this report is available free as opposed to you having to commission this examination of the car yourself by an authorized dealer.
THE UGLY:
Look out in your empty driveway- THAT EMPTY PAVEMENT IS SO UGLY. You could use a Gorgeous Ferrari Red hunk of Italian flavored aluminum out there to spruce things up. This car would look Great in yourdriveway, give younever-ending gratification, and you'll find smiles on your face you didn't remember you could make each and every time you drive it.
If you don't do this for yourself, who will? No one! You ought to own this car- so Go for it !!
If you've come this far, your time has been appreciated, Thanks for L@@king
