Launched in 2002, it is essentially an updated 550Maranello featuring minor styling changes from Pininfarina. The 575M wasreplaced by the 599 GTB in the first half of 2006. Only 2056 575M's were everproduced. As with all Ferraris, the heart of this model is the engine,in which the 575 is an abbreviation of the larger 5,750 cc effectivedisplacement which has resulted in a subsequent increase in power and torque,long the marque’s main development goals. In characteristic Ferrariterminology, the M stands for “modified,” meaning that all round performancehas been improved. Overall performance in particular has been worked on, backedup by more advanced vehicle dynamics and the introduction of the F1-style gear changein a road-going Ferrari V12 for the very first time.
