1937 Fiat TOPOLINO 500 CONVERTIBLE SEDAN ALL STEEL DRAG COUPE GAS ALTERED CLASS Description

Today we have listed for sale a 1937 Fiat 500 Topolino steel bodied car, that currently is set up in 'strip mode', as in drag racing. This car belongs to afriend of mine who has another project going that he wants to complete- this isn't a 'fire sale' or a ditching of acar,he's simply letting go of one to move on to another, andI'm here to help them do that. This is thefirst time for this car here on eBay, and rather than a bare body or pile of parts,it's together, and runs / drives - this car is on point, and on the money! There is no title, car will be sold on a bill of sale only. Let's talk. I will do my best to describe it so that you feel you know it. It's hard to show the total story of thiscar in the words I use, but I have added as many pictures as possible -I tried to use pictures that covered the overall feel and look of the car. These pictures were mostly all taken at Evergreen Air Museum - I usually take them in front of a Douglas C-47 Skytrain that was part of the Normandy invasion in 1944.You will also note the Spruce Goose, a Saturn rocket and other planes in the background of some of the pictures. Evergreen is gracious in letting us use their planes and facility as a backdrop for these pictures. If you're ever in the McMinnville are please stop and see them - they have not only the air museum but an aerospace museum and an indoor water park! I use lower resolution so that anyone in the world can download them with relative ease. There's a LOT of photos, so make sure you use the scroll function down the right side - the entire car is pictured here, so if you aren't seeing a particular area you may need to use that scroll. Not sure if all the pics will download on a cell phone, but they definitely will on a laptop of desktop computer. Please be aware that this car is advertised and for sale locally, nationally and globally, and we do reserve the right to end this auction at any time if the vehicle sells before auction ends. Thisverycool, collectible, unique and one ofa kindcaris definitely for sale and definitely on the money price wise. If you are SERIOUS about thecar - please call my cell # 503.580.6225 if I don't answer the first time - try again later - if I am at work I may not be able to answer your call. Please be considerate of the time. This is an amazing ly honest, umolested vehicle and overall is simply a greatcar - one you can drive, show off mess around withand show with pride - and know something that most people don't. Someone is going to get an enjoyable, fun and great old car here, a bad to the bone one at that. Buy it today and be the envy of those who hesitated and missed.

Drag Fiats - we've all seen them, Mondelo and Matsubara come to mind instantly for me, but there are, or at least were, many others. I wish I could tell you lots of stories and history of this car, but really can't. All we can do is look around the all steel body for clues of what once was. It appears that the car was a 'flopper' or a flip body at one point, that the body hinged at the rear. It doesn't now, the body is fixed to the chassis, and the front grille/hood flips forward for grille access, as well as a section of the floor/firewall removes for easy engine and tranny access. The car ran at Riverdale Drag Strip last year, I believe at Billetproof drags 2015. The steel body is a big deal, as so many are fiberglass, or are simply a pile of parts. So that we are perfectly clear, this isn't a place where we are going to debate "Gasser", "Altered" and what a car can and should be called. It's a listing for a bad to the bone trouble makin', killer little hot rod. This car is simply cool - it runs, it drives, it can make passes on the strip - and it's pretty snotty. It's not some hastily or shabblily constructed 'rat rod either. What's been done has been done well. Not for the faint, but neither was Wild Willie Borsch's Winged Express! This car is set up for some really easy changes - one could add a radiator and a flathead or milder small block, some lights and be streetable. You could go wilder, you could go milder, or just leave it as is and have some big time fun. Let's go through we we DO know about the car: Topolino literally translates to 'little mouse', which is appropriate as this carhas a HP Chevrolet 327, 1962 vintage, residingbetween the frame rails. Little mouse indeed! The motor hadsome water jacket damage, and is running as a dry block setup, so it's not going to be a good street motor, just so you know, and that it's perfectly clear. It runs an earlier Edelbrock Torker with a Holley sitting on top of it, and the block holds a pretty thumpy cam, it sounds plain nasty and wicked. The headers go right to collectors, and out small tips or stacks. It's simple, and to the point - nothing fancy here - note the balancer on the mill, it's big, and indicative of the HP 327, which would likely have been 340 horse or higher Corvette. The transmission is a 1938 Ford unit, pretty stout, and now you get why we mentioned the flathead as a possible motorvator if you wanted to streetify the car. The torque tube has been drastically shortened and spins to a 1932 Ford rear end, with a 1932 Ford spring on top. You'll notice some chains that act as limiters to keep body roll to a controlled minimum - simple but effective! As mentioned before, it would be easy to do some changing, either bolt in a flathead, or easily you could do a 4 speed and a 9 inch, wouldn't that be a hoot? The chassis, the foundation of the car is stout, and looks to be older, boxed and really tough. Wheelbase of the car is 96.5. The front end is a 1932 Ford unit also, it's what they call the 'heavy', filled or commercial axle. Up front isa really neat pair of vintage American Racing 12 spoke spindle mount 15 inch wheels running 5.60x15 Firestones.Out back the rubber is a vintage set of recap 9.00x15 slicks - not cheaters either, just slicks, the real deal! Brakes on the rear only, in case there was any question there. The steering box is a '35 Ford unit rotated on it's side, and a PSI split wishbone kit with cast ends holds the 'bones in place. a 1940 Ford master cylinder supplies the pressure to the back brakes using genuine Ansen pedals to apply that pressure, and operate the clutch/gas. Also mentioned earlier, with the nose flipping out of the way and the tunnel removed, one can really work on the car as needed. Check out the pictures - once twice or a dozen times, they tell a much better story that what we can write. I also have a couple short videos I could text to you if you'd like to see the Fiat moving around a bit.... let's keep going:

The interior is really simple, with a basic seat, and seat belts. behind that seat you will find an Eelco fuel tank and you can also see where the parachute mounted and controls went through the rear body. The controls are pedals, a steering wheel, an ignition switch, a toggle, and a Moon tachometer. That's it - it don't get any more simple or basic. The side windows are all glass, and bear the large Sekurit logo, which indicates pre-war, and helps date the body. The body's patina is real, and hasn't been 'created' as some do - that red paint's been on there a long long time,is peeling and cracking and as it does reveals the very dark blue (almost looks black) original paint, which can be seen inside the door too. As mentioned before, it's believed the car was set up at one time as a flip up body, but we don't know really anything more than that - it's evident as you look around it, that is the case. The doors open, and the semaphors are in place just stuck there. All the channels are in place for the slide back roof and even where they latch up top.It doesn't get any more real than the body on this car my friends - and it's edgy, butamazingly complete to. Yep, there are some holes here and there, but it's all steel, it's all real, andwhen was the last time you saw one like it?It's absolutely and certainly not for everyone, but those of us who 'get it',get it. If you don't, we probably aren't going to be able to explain it to you. If you got tired of the patina look, I can really see thisbody in shiny black with some blue or yellow tinted windows, can't you?? Polish the outer edge of the rim, leave the center as is, play with some trinkets, add some carbs, and man oh manthis would beone of the most known little Fiat's on the planet. The car is absolutely as is, and it will be sold on a bill of sale only, as there is no title for it. We repeat -THERE IS NO TITLE FOR THIS CAR! Wevalue our feedback, and want to be completely up front, this time and any time wesell something. So, you could buy a pile of parts and start to build a car, but this is turnkey. you couldn't build it for anywhere near what we are asking, and it represents a great value - better than money in the bank. You'll have fun driving and showing this car - be prepared to get tons of smiles and thumbs up - and be the hit of any car show you take it to, with most likely a trophy or 3 to take home for the trouble, I will try and answer any questions I can as quickly as I can, and as honestly as I can. We are hoping that someone who digs what the car IS will be able to purchase and continue to love on and appreciate it. It will be the source of many smiles, waves, envious stares and enjoyment that we know for sure. Buy it, drag it, wrench on it, drive it and enjoy it - it's better than money in the bank and one heck of a lot more fun!
