1960 Fiat Other Coupe Nurburgring Description

1960 FIAT 600ABARTH 1000 Nurburgring

FIAT ABARTH 1000

This incredibly rare FIAT 600 was converted by the famed Italian tuner company ABARTH to their twin cam street driven Abarth 1000 Nurburgring edition. It is believed a 2-owner car. The 2nd owner was an Italian car enthusiast who resided in Iowa. He drove this car throughout the 1970s. Eventually it had engine problems with the famed twin cam Abarth 1000 engine. This car was put into his Iowa garage /barn and would remain there for nearly 4 decades, dry storage. This is an original Abarth edition, it is missing its Abarth plate, but you can see where it was affixed to the car. The Iowa owner removed the plate and we have no idea why or what happened to it. The original manual transmission that backed this special Abarth engine is still with the car, as are the Abarth spec front disc brakes and Abarth identifying features such as the Jaegar gauges, Abarth steering wheel, Campagnolo Alloy Wheels, Front Disc Brakes and area front mount radiator. This package comes with a Fiat 600 Motor and not the Twin Overhead Cam Motor. This car is sold with a Texas title. The original twin cam 1000cc engine is long gone, however the original transmission is still with the car along with a good Fiat 600 engine for rebuild. There are also various brake calipers and components included along with,an alternator, oil pan, and other components. all of the Rubber Floor treatments are there and in great shape. Most everything you will need to bring this gem back to It's former glory (See Photos) . Solid Body overall with only minor rust issues along the lenght of the Front Floor Pans where they meet with the Frame Rails/inner Rocker Panels, easy fix. Straight Body Panels and a lot to work with on your restoration endeavor.

The front bumper is intact and serviceable. The special alloy wheels wear old CORSA rubber, a hint that this is no ordinary FIAT 600. Behind these alloy wheels are disc brakes in the front, a necessary feature of the Abarth-tuned Fiats. Established by Carlo Abarth in 1949, Abarth would remain an independent tuner company until acquired by Fiat in 1971.

The original serial numbers are intact and legible in the engine compartment. You can also see where the Abarth plate was affixed. Again, this plate was lost by the previous owner.
