1977 Fiat Other Convertible Description

1977 Fiat 124 Spider - NICE!
Selling because I'm returning to college. Otherwise, I'd keep it forever.
The Fiat 124 Spider was one of the finest sports cars of its era. Built in Turin, Italy, the Fiat Spider was one of the best selling and most reliable European sports cars of the era. With Italian coachwork by the famous Pinin Farina who built Ferraris, Alfa Romeos, Lancias, the lines of this car make it a real classic Italian roadster.
an 1800cc dual overhead cam four cylinder Lampredi engine which is very durable and state of the art in its day. This Fiat Spider has a strong running motor that runs extremely well with only 122,000 miles on the clock. It has passed the last two California emissions tests without any issues! The motor is mated to a 5 speed synchromesh manual transmission that shifts well, smoothly and has never popped out of gear.
INTERIOR
The interior has been completely replaced excluding the front seats which need reupholstering. The seat foam and headrests are in good condition, but are currently covered by vinyl seat covers. The door cards and dash are from a later model Spider since the original interior was in poor condition.
- New automotive carpet padding
- New black, plush custom carpeting
- Custom back seat storage area with two storage bins (the seat was removed)
- Roll bar for safety!
- An original dash was repaired, fiberglassed, textured and painted - no more cracking!
- Dash wood is from a 79 Spider and is made of a laminate material - looks great!
- New sunvisors!
- LED dash lights
BODY
The car was originally red and repainted about 2 years ago by the prior owner. He said it had no rust - it is a California car and is garage kept. Strangely, one of the prior owners had painted inside the engine bay taxicab yellow, but did not paint the rest of the car. It has been painted black now. The paint is an a single stage urethane paint which shines nicely and looks quite good. It isn't perfect and is certainly not a Concours quality paint job, but really does look nice. The pictures say it all! There is no bubbling, cracking or problems with the paint.
- Convertible top replaced professionally about 2 years ago
- Beautiful Competizione 15" rims with low profile tires really are retro looking and fit the car well
- Emblems replaced within the last 3 years and all look great
- All lights are in great shape excluding the driver's side rear which has a crack (parking lot damage)
- Windshield wipers work great
- Aftermarket halogen headlights
- Chrome is good (not perfect due to being 40 years old)
- Floorboards are in very good shape (only one very, very small spot was found when I was under the car)- Doors are solid, windows in great condition and work properly
- Door locks, trunk lock glove box lock all work properly- Vent windows have latches that work - both of them!
MECHANICAL CONDITION
Motor fires right up, choke works, no smoke, no coolant leaks, no overheating, electric fan works properly but also has a manual switch to operate the fan. Plenty of power and sounds great under acceleration. Very minor oil leak.
Transmission shifts well through all gears. Currently has a leak in the output seal. I am fixing it prior to the sale. Gear oil and differential oil just changed recently.
Brakes work well, but pull to the right. Emergency brake works properly
Things that still need to be addressed: light switch for courtesy light on the driver's door does not turn on the courtesy light. The passenger side does work. The muffler is about at the end of its life. It sounds great when accelerating but is getting a bit too loud for my taste. Two light bulbs are not working in the dash. I am going to check them since it may just be the light bulbs.
These cars are going up in value and are becoming very collectible!
NADA VALUES: $6,100 to $12,900
More photos will be posted soon. If you're a serious buyer, feel free to ask anything about the car. I have nothing to hide and want the buyer to be fully informed
I will consider rebating $400 if the buyer does not what the tires and rims depicted. I will provide a set of 13" rims and tires.
