1968 ford galaxie
1968 Ford Galaxie Description
I have had this car for a couple of years. I have put approx. fourteen hundred miles on car. Car has 30 ft. paint job. Passenger side has repair from past, not the best work, most people see the shine and think looks great. People have fun trying to identify this car. Even ford loyalists have trouble. Missing the lower exterior trim. Needs headliner. Glass in good condition. What little rust is surface rust, picture of front passenger interior rust spot is the worst area. Picture of trunk (photo#10) shows where the pins were used for repairs to passenger side rear quarter panel. Have tried to take pictures of most rust prone areas. Knock with knuckles and all areas make metal sound. Engine was rebuilt in recent past, before I owned it. Runs well, does not use oil. Transmission shifts as it should, however at idle, in drive, wants to push car forward a little more than it should. Brakes work great. Headlights work. High beams and high beam indicator works. Parking brake indicator works. AM radio works, but antenna is broke off. Driver side vent works. Passenger side vent is disengaged. Was an AC car, but compressor and hoses removed. Have old paper work from Bakersfield California, guessing car was there for a long time. Have original owners manual. When I first got the car, replaced some of the front steering components, drives well. Power Brakes, Power Steering. I have original radiator. Had very small leak, replaced with new aluminum one, still have the old one. Heater core must have small leak, smell coolant on occasion, don't need to refill very often(ounce every couple hundred miles). Previous owner purchased new tires, and hub extensions, which caused tires to rub. I removed spacers and have driven that way, the cuts in sidewalls do not look more than superficial. So the tires are new, but have lacerations in the side. I have used car to take my kids to school. As best as I can tell, car has 2.7 ratio rear end. It cruises comfortably at 65 mph. Most my trips are 10 miles or less recently. Before my oldest learned to drive, the round trip was approx. 35 miles to both schools. Car has always been reliable, never left me stranded. Has new 30 gallon gas tank. Tank filler spout ABS pipe. Has electric fuel pump. Had complete exhaust fabricated then had to remove back part to mount gas tank. Mufflers work well, car still has a nice idle sound, not to loud.
