1965 Thunderbird Special 10th Anniversary Edition Landau 2 door hardtop!! This is a Survivor Car.
Ford announced this Special Landau as "Unique Among the Unique", introduced in the spring of 1965 and made different from regular Tbird Landau's by the special color combination, interior accents, hubcaps, and trim only available on this special edition model. This model was also the introduction by Ford to front power disc brakes and sequential rear turn signals. Steering wheel has swing away option for easy entry and exit. Rear seats are wrap-around with flow-through ventilation that exhausts outside the rear window. Original window sticker (see picture), bill of sale, partial build sheet, and registration included plus other documentation.
This is a numbered edition vehicle (#3047 of 4500) that was sold in Richmond, VA new. 390cu/300hp, automatic, PS, PB (factory disc's on front), It has not been restored and has no rust. The only corrosion to be found on this car is a small spot under the battery tray. Runs and drives excellent. Many new parts including new brakes and shocks all around, new PS pump, new PB booster & master cylinder, new water pump, rebuilt original 4bbl carb, updated retro stereo (original available), swing away steering wheel, new electronic sequential turn signal module (original available but bearings bad),many more.
Paint is a poor respray and soft so several scratches and dings showing. Needs quality repaint to be a stunning car. Chrome is good but not show quality. Interior is excellent original with only driver door panel cracks at armrest (see picture). Carpet only OK but some stains on passenger side from heater leak, new logo mats. New 134a AC compressor and drier installed. New expansion valve included but not installed if desired. AC needs charging either way. New heater core (old one bypassed due to leak),blower motor, and speed control resistor included but not installed.
Engine does not burn any oil and transmission shifts perfectly. Has a few leaks from sitting in garage with little use. Mileage shows 61,682 and is actual as close as I can ascertain. Only body damage is broken headlight trim on driver side (replacement included but not installed).
Average asking price over past 3 years per Hemmings Motors pricing guide for a standard 1965 Thunderbird 2-door hardtop is $19,572.43 so this is priced well below average for an above average, special limited edition, tenth anniversary survivor vehicle that is ready to cruise today.
