1950 Ford F3 Pickup (longbed version of 1948 & 1949 F1)
1950 Ford Other Pickups Description
You are bidding on a running and driving long bed Ford F3 pickup. This is the long (8 foot) bed 3/4 Ton capacity version of the familiar F1 1/2 Ton short bed pickup. Not a show truck by any stretch, but can be a driver. However all the basics are here to make this into a show truck if you wanted to put the time and money into it. The story here is that I picked this up as someone's abandoned project. It had been completely taken apart leaving only the engine and suspension on the chassis. I reassembled it and made some improvements along the way. The odometer reads approx 52,400 miles and I believe this to be authentic, but make no guarantee as to that. A previous owner had attempted to strip off the truck's second paint job but seemed to lose interest before completing the job and so there is a lot of surface-only rust where he left the metal exposed - nothing that I think some sanding won't take care of, or it can just be left as patina. This was a genuine working truck and is 65 years old so there are a couple of small rust-through spots in places that you would expect - particularly at the bottoms of the fenders but NONE on the crucial cab corners, cab floor, running boards or chassis. New roll-up window glass in both doors. New passenger vent window glass included (to replace the cracked one) but not installed. Rear window is fine - front windshield has a couple of small chips but no cracks. Running boards are rust-free and in great shape. Engine fan is noisy but otherwise engine runs fine. Improvements: - converted from 6V to 12V, and thus new ignition coil & starter relay, rebuilt 61amp GM alternator. Also new distributor cap, rotor, plugs & wires - new carburetor, electric fuel pump, oil filter, drive belts & hoses - new gas tank and sending unit - converted to new dual circuit power brakes with front disk brakes, new rear drum brakes and all new brake lines with correct proportioning valve & residual/check valves - new front wheel bearings & seals and new rear axle bearings & seals - brand new wheels (from a Dodge Ram 1500) & appropriate tires (LT 225x75 16" Cooper Discoverer A/T3 with less than 100 miles) - new front shock absorbers - air filter converted from original messy oil bath type to modern paper cartridge type inside the orginal housing - rebuilt Ford 9 inch 28 spline 3.70 rear end (I think it's from a 1957-59 Ranchero - no guarantee though), with a new USA Standard Gear limited slip differential in the center section - all new Painless 18-circuit pickup truck wiring harness (all unused circuit wires are uncut) - all original gages except ammeter working correctly on 12 volts (using a step-down transformer) - installed a utility cargo bed floor in rear (there was no bed floor at all when I got it) - installed on-the-column turn signals with new front signal and rear brake & tail lights - included but not installed are 2 new lap seat belts complete with installation hardware Original Features: - original flathead V8 - runs great, good oil pressure. compression is 110-120 psi in all 8 cylinders - it does currently have a very noisy cooling fan - original 4 speed non-synchromesh transmission - good clutch - frame is completely solid and without significant rust - all original chrome is present and in decent shape - genuine optional Ford heater - parking brake refurbished with new cables to fit the Ford 9 inch rear axle - interior cab light and external mirrors are missing - I can include the 4 original 'widow-maker' wheels & tires, and some other original parts I removed if buyer desires - also included is the official reprint of 1948-52 Ford F-Series Truck Shop Manual I hold the current and valid Illinois title for this vehicle - there are no liens or encumbrances on it Full purchase price (Cash or Cashier's Check) must change hands either before or when keys and title are handed over Vehicle is sold as is, where is and no warranty is expressed, implied or should be assumed. Truck has been in covered storage for the past 12 months - it's now time to go! Note: I have driven this vehicle locally, but the buyer acknowledges that in its current state, it may not be suitable or safe to drive at high speed or over long distances. The truck is not currently licensed for the road.
