2005 Mustang Saleen S281 #05-769

Extremely clean & unmolested 2005 Saleen S281 Mustang w/chrome wheel option. Number 769 out of 945 S281 Coupes made in 2005. Car has been well cared for & garaged. Real Saleen, not a clone. Has all the original, from Saleen, interior, body parts, suspension, wheels & exhaust. Car even has the original Saleen K&N air filter. Please read the entire ad as I’ll try my best to describe the car in great detail.

Exterior-

Original Sonic Blue paint in excellent shape. Car was professionally buffed & looks wet. I had both side skirts repainted due to rock chips. Both front headlight housings were replaced due to slight fading of the lenses. All exterior black plastic trim is in excellent shape.

Interior-

All original, from Saleen, Dark Graphite interior. All power options including windows, door locks, Cold Air Conditioning, tilt wheel & cruise control. Carpet is in excellent shape with no wear marks. Leather seats with Saleen logo all in great shape. Driver seat is great & shows like a 40 or 50k mile car may. Stock shifter & stereo all operate as they should. Door panel inserts are very tight, unlike many cars from this generation. Shifter boot has some a small place on it where the faux leather has peeled off (barely noticeable).

Drivetrain-

Original 3 valve V8 (281 c.i.) motor backed by a 5 speed manual transmission. 300 h.p. motor runs out strong with no smoke, noises or hesitation. Only mod is an AirRaid throttle body spacer. Still has the Saleen underdrive pulleys. All original exhaust with Saleen(Magnaflow) mufflers with center exit exhaust. Transmission shifts fine with no grinding or popping out of gear. Clutch feels good & to the best of my knowledge is original. Racecraft suspension from Saleen all intact. Still has the Racecraft Springs, shocks, struts & sway bar. I added the cross drilled & slotted rotors with new brake pads (front & rear) less than 100 miles ago. Saleen option chrome wheel package with like new Nitto tires. Tires are staggered from Saleen with 275/40 20 rears & 275/35 20 fronts.

Other-

Only issue I could find, that I didn’t fix, is the parking brake. Common problem of the early S197 cars was faulty emergency brake cables. I even found a TSB related to this. E brake is extremely hard to pull up & most likely the e brake cables need to be replaced. Never bothered me & does not affect the drivability. Another common issue with these cars is the throttle body motor/idle air control. I replaced the TB Motor on this car less than 100 miles ago. Car is not new but runs & drives excellent. Chassis is as clean as a new car & paint still shows very well. Reserve price is well below what these cars are selling for & this is a car that can be driven & enjoyed without driving the value out of it by adding miles.
