1992 Ford F-150 Flareside Description

1992 F150 Flareside Regular Cab 2WD – 5.0 V8 with Hurst 5 speed. Bimini Blue with gray interior. Dual fuel tanks. Rare truck in excellent condition. This is the first year that Ford brought back the flareside and production numbers are low. 3.08 open rear end. Truck has 145K miles. Excellent original paint, no dents or rust. Only body imperfection is a ding in the passenger door panel – paint less dent removal would address it if you want the truck to be perfect. Amazingly clean underneath as well – clean frame, rust free undercarriage. Beautiful interior – no rips, no cracks, clean headliner and carpet.

I believe I am the third owner and the truck must have been babied and garaged all its life. I bought the truck a year ago and it had been lowered front and rear with an axle flip kit in the back and DJM dream beams and lowering springs up front. While it looked cool, I wanted more ground clearance and I removed the lowering springs up front and installed brand new Moog OEM style springs and Bilstein 4600 shocks. Then I reversed the axle flip out back, but it has drop shackles so it’s a little lower than stock out back. With the 3” drop beam sin front, it sits a little high in the back now but everyone seems to love the stance. If I were to keep the truck I would do to stock I beams in the front (you could sell the DJM beams and buy stock ones and pocket some money). The truck rides on new 255/60 R 17 and 275/55 R 17 Pirelli Scorpions tires on beautiful Enkei wheels. When I bought the truck it had lower profile 255/45 R 17 tires on the front and I changed to taller tires to bring the height up some. I have the lower profile front tires and am including them in the sale. The current front tires are a little too tall/wide with the 3” front drop. If you go stock I beams in front it would be fine, if you like the drop in front I would suggest going back to the lower profile tires.

The engine is bone stock and runs great. Everything is as it should be under the hood. No backyard mechanics, all stock parts and everything as it was when new. The clutch is excellent (no idea if it has been changed). The truck has a hurst shifter which I love, but I also have the stock shifter for it. Everything works on the truck – all lights, the heater, even the air conditioner blows ice cold. Drives straight at 80 mph and brakes fine.

Numerous upgrades and parts replacements in the past year as follows:

-Bassani stainless crossover pipe and hi flow catalytic converter

-Flowmaster cat back single exit exhaust system and new hangers

-New AC compressor

-New serpentine belt and tensioner

-New battery, solenoid and hi torque starter

-New power window motors

-New wiper arms and blades

-New door striker and tailgate bushings

-New shocks and springs up front, all new suspension bushings/components and new shocks in the rear

-New front brakes and stainless brake lines front and back

The truck has a custom front grill and an Extang Tuff Tonno Cover. The bed has never had a bedliner and its excellent condition reflects the truck’s pleasure use all its life.

This truck really turns heads; it gets more comments and thumbs up than my 2012 Boss 302. I hate to sell as it will be hard to find another one this nice, but I have too many toys and need to buy a newer practical commuter with an automatic transmission.
