1965 Ford F-100 Description

This is a great, rust free Idaho truck. It is a true short bed fleetside with two wheel drive. At some point it was fully restored but is an older restoration; likely sometime in the 80's. The truck has a 460 in it making about 475-500 horsepower with a C6 transmission backing it that has an aftermarket valve body. The converter feels like a stock one.
In a former life this truck was bracket raced at the strip in Walla Walla, WA and at Firebird raceway outside of Boise, ID. As a result the truck has a line lock, a two step rev control on the MSD 6AL box and a 4 point harness on the driver side and the fuel tank being relocated out of the cab to a fuel cell in the bed. I haven't raced it at all and it hasn't been raced on this engine. I purchased this truck from the older gentleman that raced it. When he had it he ran a D0VE headed 429 that he blew. This 460 was built as the replacement for it, but he started develop Alzheimer's and stopped driving before he sold it to me. His son, who is a racer as well, installed the engine along with myself.
The engine has about 600 miles total on it of cruising around town by myself here in the Boise area. It has A-429 Cobra Jet aluminum heads, the matching Cobra Jet single plane intake, Comp Cam 282 duration cam and a manual choke Holley 850 double pumper with electric fuel pump. It has about 9.0:1 compression on forged pistons and runs great with no detonation on the ethanol free 91 that I run it on at 38 degrees total timing. The cam was broken in with care by myself and the prior owner using Gibbs break in oil. Since the break in it has had 3 oil changes using K&N oil filters and Brad Penn high ZDPP oil to ensure the survival of the cam.
The axle is a Ford 9" with a Detroit Locker and 4.11 gears. It works great!
There is a short crease on the driver side lower rear on the box and was improperly repaired with bondo that has started to crack. The metal underneath is in great shape. The front fenders are rust free as are the cab mounts, floor boards, rockers, hood, cowl and rear of the cab. I've had a few slick side Fords so I'm quite familiar with their common rust areas and that is what was very appealing to me about this one. It has a 1966 grille on it rather than the egg crate 1965. The 1966 grille was the common service replacement for 1965's as the 1965's are not reproduced.
I really like this truck and have had great fun driving it as it is. However, I'm moving to a place where it would sit outside in the rain (Seattle area) and I'm a couple years out from being able to build a shop to keep it and work on it.
Feel free to ask as many questions as you like and I will give you honest answers and take any additional pictures to send your way that you need.
