1955 Ford F-800 Truck Tractor
1955 Ford Other Pickups Description
Up for auction is a 1955 Ford F800. This truck started out as a NJ fire truck. It has 19,415 original miles on it. It has been shortened and made into a truck tractor set up to tow a 5th wheel trailer. It's had a lot of time and money put into it. I will try to describe it to the best of my knowledge. Starting from the front under the hood is a 317 ci Lincoln gas motor. The motor had a complete valve job with new spark plugs, wires, points, cap and rotor. The water pump is rebuilt, it has a new electric fuel pump, a re-cored radiator, new alternator with new belts and hoses. The outside has new stainless west coast mirrors, new lights from front to rear, rebuilt master cylinder, rebuilt brake booster and all wheel cylinders were rebuilt. All of the wheel bearings were cleaned and re packed with new axle seals installed. All brake linings are 75%, some brake lines were replaced. Steering and king pins are good and take grease, exhaust has ram horn manifolds with dual exhaust pipes hooked up to chrome stacks. Truck has no mufflers. Transmission is a 5 speed with a single speed rear, clutch is good, brakes including emergency work fine, it has a nice hard pedal. Drive shaft has been cut and balanced with no vibration. All leaf springs are good and shackles take grease. The electrical has been converted to 12 volt. It has many extra running lights installed. She really lights up at night. There is an am/fm radio with 2 speakers, most of the dash gauges work along with the speedometer. New heater core and the seat has been reupholstered. It also has a new floor mat. All glass is original and not cracked. There is an air compressor behind the seat for the air horns. Tires are Goodyear and have 80% tread. They are not dry rotted. It has a tool box behind the cab, then a 1/2 inch steel plate mounted to the frame with a toe hitch ball and 2 eye rings for safety chains. It also has a pintle hook on the back with a trailer light plug. It has brake controller in the cab. The frame has been cut and channeled and goes down the road straight.
This truck runs good and handles well. I used it for towing my show truck to local shows. It has a reconstructed Pa title because of being shortened. It has also been inspected by a Pa certified inspection station before I was to receive a Pa title in my name. It has an amateur paint job and the decals can be removed from the door. You are welcome to come out and inspect the truck. This is not a show truck and is being sold as is.
