1996 Ford F-250 XLT Crew Cab Pickup 4-Door Description

If you are looking for an old body style Powerstroke, you know excellent trucks, and that this 7.3L has a long life ahead of it. This truck grabs the attention of folks that know diesel trucks with its clean lines, glossy paint, and great stance with the combination of the lift, 35" tires, and hard to find CrewCab with shortbed combination.
The original owner worked at Ford, and I have the full maintenance history starting from the original order sheet & window sticker (bought at Pat Milliken Ford in Michiganshowing details like the factory delete of the 4x4 decal on the tail, 4.10 gears, chrome package, factory tow set up, SVT transmission pan install, etc) all the way to the new Interstate batteries I put in last weekend. No rust on the frame or body since it was always oil undercoated. I bought the truck in Michigan while in grad school and have driven it across the continent, from Toronto, to Idaho, Texas, and Tennessee and never had an issue. I keep a spare serpentine belt behind the back seat and a spare cam shaft position sensor in the glove box since those would be the most common items to strand one of these trucks . . . other than that, I hit the road.
Truck has rear tonneau cover, Line-X bedliner, Hi-lift jack mount in the bed, full size BF Goodrich spare tire, Husky floor mats plus original carpet floor mats, K&N air filter, updated auto-dimming rear view mirror, six position chip (stock idle, high idle, +50 to +100 HP, and a kill switch, drilled/slotted front brake rotors, six inch ProComp lift, etc. Check out this link for a quick video walkaround here. I try and briefly point out relevant items.
Oil and filters changed religiously, so I don't list that stuff below. I stay on top of maintenance, so for a 20 year old truck, many components are new. I try to be 100% transparent, so here's a rundown on some of the stuff done over the last few years and what I would recommend to a new owner (all receipts in a binder for review):
10/16/16: Batteries were testing weak, so I put in two new Interstate Batteries with 3 year warranty installed before the cold comes. Truck has an engine block heater, so it can be plugged in during winter months if desired.9/8/16: Replaced ignition system actuator in steering column. This tightened up the steering column with the lift. My next item would be a fresh alignment and steering wheel recenter with this new actuator in place. With the TTB front end and a lift, it needs an alignment to keep the tire wear even. Steering wheel angles left when driving straight and I would recenter it during alignment.6/4/16: Installed new nFab nerf bars to replace old chrome bars that were showing wear5/10/16: Replaced idler pulley and serpentine belt2/29/16: New starter10/15/15: New Toyo Open Country tires (315/75/16). Put them on at 205k miles, so they have about 10k miles on them. I rotated them 5k miles ago, so recommend I would rotate again.5/25/15: Installed Clarion 7" flipout DVD/stereo/bluetooth/navigation unit3/1/15: New alternator9/15/14: New windshield since it got a chip in it1/21/14: Switched from Mile Marker to Warn 4x4 hubs on the front axle8/26/13: New transmission (Ford remanufactured install). Original got 183k miles on it, so I would expect the same for this one.
I redid all the steering linkages, ball joints, and u-joints on the TTB front end back in 2012/2013
Other details:- Small oil pan gasket leak. Not enough to move the dip stick reading between oil changes, but it will drip in your driveway, so I put a pan under it to catch the occasional drip. To replace the gasket requires pulling the motor, so it's not that big of a deal to me. No other known oil leaks.- Paint from 1 foot away is glossy, but at 6 inches you can find small blemishes on the front hood and see the touch up paint marks. I try to demonstrate that in the video.- No rust, no torn rubber, no tears in seats, no cracks in dash- Air conditioning is charged and works like new - Basically, you get in and it feels like a couple year old truck. I keep the front seats covered for protection, and I have a seat pad in the driver's seat for a little extra comfort.- I have only ever towed with it once. Towed my son's Boy Scout trailer to camp. Didn't even know it was behind us.
It's an excellent truck. Only reason I am selling it is we have more vehicles than drivers, I want to spend a little $ on outfitting our QuadVan for extended camping trips, and throw a little coin into the college funds.
