1998 Ford F-250 Description

I am going to describe this to the best of my knowledge. I purchased this truck in 2012 from an online Gov't surplus auction site. This was owned by the Fulton Co. GA Sheriff's Office. It appears to have been used at the jail hauling short loads around the jail.
I purchased it and I have not had a good experience with it. It has a list of problems and I am just not interested in fixing it anymore.
The start price is the minimum that I will take since it has a curb weight of 4,333 and steel recycles at .03 per lb. as of Friday afternoon in my area. $129.99 is interestingly the number for scraping this truck this weekend in Portland, TN. SO, $129.99 steel value + $60 minimum Ebay Final Value Fee, which I will have to pay, is how I arrived at the $189.99 start bid.
I am hoping that somebody will properly re-use this pickup truck. I am willing to take a loss and sell it to the highest bidder. If you want a good parts truck, this is YOUR truck. If you want a project, then this is YOUR truck. If you want a cheap pickup to run around the farm or off-road then this is YOUR truck. If you want a truck that will start and drive away, this IS NOT your truck.
That said, this pickup does start and runs. It would be unsafe to operate it on a roadway. I believe it could have a bad tie rod(s). You will need to trailer or tow it.
The good part is that you can drive it onto the trailer. It has 1/4 tank of CNG and there are CNG stations in Nashville about 40 miles away to fuel before you continue towing it home if you want to. I fuel my other CNG vehicles there all the time.
Here is a list of the issues that this truck has, there might be other issues I am unaware of:
-Cracked windshield
-Tear on driver's seat
-One of the factory CNG tanks had a short in the magnetic valve wiring and it is dead.
-Factory AM/FM has broken knobs
-Headliner is sagging
-Tailgate latch is broken and does not open without assistance from hand tools
-Heater core has small leak
-Something is wrong with the PCM or the fuel inj. system. The truck wants to gun after it warms up.
-AC works when refilled. Has a decent leak and last time I monitored it, the system used a can of R-134a every 2 weeks.
-Something wrong with front steering/suspension. I think it is tie rod(s).
-Paint is a little rough and there are dents in the bed. A large dent on the driver side bed and the tailgate is real rough. (See pic #5)
-Strange story: One night (Sept 2014) I left the P/U truck running for a few minutes. Came back to a pool of trans. fluid all under the truck. I had AAA tow it home. Later, I filled it with ATF to find the leak and guess what? I could not find the leak and have not been able to again. It appears to have stopped leaking.
Here are some perks that this truck has to its credit:
-Extra CNG fuel tank was added for extended range. (good thing since one of the factory tanks are shot)
-It starts right up
-It has great power and the engine is strong. It is just the pcm/fuel delivery issue I think.
-I have not observed oil leaks.
Please give this truck a 2nd chance for itself or to keep another truck alive.
Here is the fine print so to speak:
This truck is AS-IS and where is. I will show by appointment. Please inspect before end of auction if you desire to. You are not placing an offer, you are placing a bid and I expect all bidders to be serious; I will sell it to the highest bidder at the end of the auction, I am not going to end early and this F250 is only for sale through this auction.
I require a $175 PayPal deposit within 24 hours and the remaining funds in 72 hours (I will not accept money orders or checks due to fraud). Unlike some sellers, I will accept PayPal or Credit Card for the entire amount.
I want this picked up within 7 days of the auction end. I will charge a storage fee of $20 per day from day 8 to day 29 (this storage fee will be required before the pickup truck will be released to Buyer) . After 30 days, it will be resold and Buyer's money forfeited. Sorry but I am not a car lot, I understand that it can take time to line things up, that said, I do want this pickup to go to it's new home ASAP.
Thank you and Happy Bidding!!!
