1932 Ford Hi-Boy Custom Roadster, 'Stoked', 354ci Hemi with BDS blower
1932 Ford Hi-Boy Custom Roadster Description
Amazing Custom Build. 'STOKED' is this 1932 Ford Hi-Boy Roadster. Impeccably finished in Black Apple with Crimson striping and custom, hand-applied Gold Leaf accent, this is the ultimate example of the most iconic of all Hot Rods, the Deuce Hi Boy. It is equipped with a pro-built 354ci Chrysler Hemi with aluminum Hot Heads, BDS Blower, Hilborn electronic fuel injection with FAST EFI control system by Hat Racing. Power is delivered through a pro-built TH400 3-speed automatic transmission. Hand fabricated chassis and suspension with a Winters quick-change rear end. 20" rear and 17" front polished custom wheels. Chromed and polished throughout, custom and hand-fabricated parts abound. A truly one-of-a-kind piece of art on wheels. It's rare to have the nicest car in the showroom, the highest quality of builds at the car show, and the fastest vehicle on the dragstrip all in one package. It would cost somewhere between $500-800K to replicate this build, depending on how crazy of a car was desired.

This '32 is the perfect mix of classic muscle car attitude and first class modern performance, featuring an awesome combination of no-nonsense looks and vicious street manners with the perfect old school look, yet with contemporary features infused into the design and modern technology backing it up. It was built from 2008-2010, with over 5,000 hours into the build. It was featured at the 2010 Grand National Roadster Show in Pomona, CA in competition for America's Most Beautiful Roadster. The AMBR is limited to the most quintessential of hot rods, the roadster. There are countless hand fabricated parts - from the front grille, exhaust, tail lights, body, frame, wish bone front suspension, etc., to the custom leather interior, dash and interior panels. The idea/goal was to see how far they could really push the envelope in quality - creating one of, if not THE, nicest '32s possible. That's why it is so over-the-top, with a level of quality rarely seen even from the industry's leading builders.
Fred Stoke, a man with more than fifty years of rodding and racing experience, joined forces with Paul Shaugnessey, owner of New Metal Kustoms for this project. Paul is a star in the custom car building scene and employs a sophisticated knowledge of both old school and contemporary techniques. Paul's abilities range from forging and welding to the latest metal shaping and finishing processes. The unique blend of Fred's lifelong automotive experience and Paul's creative talent has produced this very evolved example of the most iconic of all hot rods, the deuce hi boy. Stoke said. "I learned the grease when I was really young, maybe 10 years old". He had built a roadster while at San Rafael High School in the early '50s. Not long after graduation he built his first long, low, (and fundamentally dangerous), dragster. Fred raced his cars professionally into the mid-'60s on the drag strips at Cotati, Lodi, Vacaville, Half Moon Bay and Fremont. Paul's breadth of masterful fabrication skills are on full display with every component on this awe-inspiring '32. The mirror-finish of the undercarriage only accentuates the attention to detail imparted to this car. The hand-sculpted steel body panels are just the beginning with 'Stoked'. The one-off chrome grill, the aluminum hood with its custom polished intake, and custom louvered trunk lid are all a background to a myriad of glimmering chromed, polished and coated, custom and hand-fabricated engine and suspension components. The time, energy and money into this build is on full display everywhere. From the polished custom racing wheels to the smallest fastener, it is custom fabricated and chromed or polished to the highest level.
With a laser-straight body, Spies Hecker paint in Black Apple was expertly applied, with countless hours invested in hand-polishing to achieve the mirror finish of this car. The beautiful 24k gold leaf and House of Kolor's Kustom Maroon striping was applied by the renowned hands of Courtney Schamach of Petaluma, CA. Taking over 40 hours and utilizing old-master techniques, Courtney, who is inspired by legendary artists such as Von Dutch and Tommy the Greek, was able to further enhance the body lines and presence of this roadster with the superb custom striping that's buried in clear.
The interior is just as amazing as the outside, hand-crafted by Chris Plante of Aces High in Santa Rosa, CA. Finished in the finest cabernet-colored leather, the custom seat's trim-work, fit and finish are impeccable. Featuring hand-made custom details throughout, highlights include custom billet steering wheel, hand fabricated dash, custom arm rest and center console. Unique details abound with expertly machined trim pieces throughout. A custom modern 'invisible' audio system has been professionally installed. Words alone are unable to describe the high-level attention to detail, and the fabrication skills required to create this car - the ultimate '32 Roadster.
