2003 FORD F-150 4X2 SUPER CAB XLT “HERITAGE EDITION”
NOT TO BE CONFUSED OR COMPARED TO THE SUBSEQUENT MODEL YEARS’ “HERITAGE” TRIM PACKAGE. THIS IS THE 100th ANNIVERSARY “HERITAGE EDITION”AND IS POWERED BY THE BULLET PROOF 4.6L TRITON V8.
The original owner is a friend and co-worker since 1999. In May of 2003 he took delivery of this stunning 2003 Heritage Edition Ford F-150, built exactly the way he wanted it. He used this truck as a daily driver for 13 years. Several months ago, I passed him in the hallway with a stack of brochures. He was on his way to order another Ford truck. He asked if I was interested in his custom ordered 2003 F-150. I said yes. Plain and simple, I didn’t need a test ride, didn’t need to check under the hood; I’d take it just as he would sell it. The day his new 2016 arrived, we went to the DMV to transfer ownership. I am the 2nd owner and I have babied and enjoyed the truck for over a year now. My needs have changed so I need to find a new home for my baby.
My friend replaced only two items in 13 years, above and beyond the normal wear out items; an alternator and an EGR valve. Everything else on this truck is as it was when the folks in Norfolk, Virginia assembled it.
My friend is a stickler for maintaining a vehicle for its continued performance and reliability. He performed all fluid changes and recommended service needs at the appropriate intervals. Therefore, after 208,000 miles, the truck not only looks “near new”, it runs very much like it did the day he took delivery.
The facts:
This is the 10th generation of Ford F-150s. In 2003 Ford introduced the Heritage Edition with special badging and made only 15,000 of them. This marked the 100th year of Ford trucks. This model was only available with the 139” wheelbase XLT Super Cab Style side with a 6 ½’ bed with a black Ford bed liner. The optional Captain’s Chair seating makes this truck just a bit harder to find. Chrome grille surround with black honeycomb grille insert, chrome tubular cab steps, unique black "F150" front floor mats with rear floor mat, 17" 5-spoke “Heritage Edition” aluminum wheels, unique two-tone paint treatment and tape stripe, clear lens headlamps, park lamps and fog lamps, and accent colored lower bumper valance. Not to mention the massive Triton V8. See below:

As you can see from the photos included, this truck shows below average wear. The seats, carpet and overall exterior condition, bed and engine compartment of this truck present very well. The windshield has a small star crack in it, located near the driver-side wiper blade. This occurred sometime in 2012, according to the original owner. It has passed North Carolina inspections every year since due to its’ size and the fact that it hasn’t spread. The Ford bed liner has minimal wear in it from use.
There is a well-known issue with the odometer for at least this model year Ford where the odometer occasionally is blank. It has no effect on the accuracy of total miles, trip miles, or anything else. It just occasionally does not display. I personally have noticed it a few times only. It’s a known issue to Ford.
The tires on the truck now are worn down a bit, but left this way for a couple of reasons. One, to show that there is no adverse wear due to worn front-end parts, and two, because if I replaced those tires with a model undesired by the buyer it would be a waste of money.
This beautiful F-150 is in very nice condition. It may not be a perfect truck, but it doesn’t have any funny noises, rattles or squeaks when driving. It starts 1st time every time. No pulls right or left when driving or stopping. It doesn’t smoke, and no leaks except a few dimed sized drips of oil if left parked for several weeks or more at a time.
Any Ford enthusiast would be proud to own this collectible limited production 100th Anniversary “HERITAGE EDITION” FORD F-150.
This spectacular model offered at NO RESERVE was ordered in the exact color combination that Ford used in all brochure ads and comes equipped with every option available. Don’t let this one pass you by. If you love Ford trucks, this is the model that celebrates Fords reputation and collectability.
