Regarding the tow hitch, I was the one who installed the hitch so I know the entire history of towing that has been done with the car. The only thing I have towed is my small sailboat which, with the trailer, weighs about 800 pounds and is at most about 50 pounds on the tongue (I lift it and drop it on myself with no effort).
In case it is not clear from the photos, the receiver has a smaller, 1.25" opening. Tow capacity for this hitch on my 2013 Fusion is specified from the hitch manufacturer (Curt) as 350 pounds tongue weight and 3500 pound capacity. Ford's specifications for the car are for a maximum of 2000 pounds load and 200 pounds tongue weight.
