2002 Ford Ranger Description

My son just returned from deployment in the Army and wants me to sell his truck for him as he’s looking to buy a new car. This truck we bought for him before he started driving and have had it for 6 years. The truck is in very good shape and runs extremely well. I personally do a lot of work on cars and have taken care of this truck meticulously. There have been many new parts installed in the last 1 & 1/2 years before & since his deployment. The following is a list of the items replaced:

  • front passenger side cv axle (last week)
  • new front rotors and pads (last week)
  • new passenger side wheel hub & bearing (1 & 1/2 years ago)
  • new passenger side wheel speed sensor (last week)
  • new battery (2 months ago)
  • new alternator (1 1/2 years ago)
  • rear spring shackle hanger, passenger side (9 months ago), frame is very solid and just this side needed replacement
  • new shift linkage bushings (2 weeks ago)
  • new driver side wheel speed sensor 1 1/2 years ago
  • replaced transmission with used transmission that had 135,000 miles on it 2 years ago (approximately another 20k miles on it since then)
  • brand new high quality seat covers (last week), drivers side seat had small tear (see pics) so covers were put on
  • new front windshield (9 months ago, had full glass coverage and small crack so was replaced)
  • there may be more, but this is what I can recall off the top of my head

This truck looks and drives extremely good. There are some small scratches and dings, but no rot. There is one small spot of rust starting to bubble the paint on the rear passenger side door, but not bad (see pics). Also, on the front passenger side wheel well there is one small spot where the paint had pealed up, but no rust (see pics). The running board tubes do have rust starting to get bad, but these can easily be removed or replaced. Otherwise the body is in excellent shape and rust free. The truck does not smoke or burn oil. There are no leaks underneath and like mentioned before, frame extremely solid. The drivers side interior door panel was cracked and the bottom broken off, but you would not notice unless looking for it or detailing the interior (see pic). There is no check engine light and starts right up with 1 touch of the key. 4x4 works perfect as well.

My son routinely drove this truck home on leaves for weekends 240 miles from his base to home with no concerns whatsoever.

The truck does need two new rear tires as they are completely bald. When the spring shackle hanger broke my son drove it from the base to home without realizing the issue. This pulled the rear out of alignment and caused balding of the rear tires.

See pics for all cosmetic matters as the truck is not perfect, but in very good shape. I’m happy to answer any questions and send additional pics of specific areas by request.
