1978 Ford F-100 Base Standard Cab Pickup 2-Door Description

F100 Short Bed
Up for auction is this 1978 F100 that until very recently was still owned by the family who purchased it new. This truck is almost in all original condition, the cab, doors, and fenders are incredibly solid, the bed has rust in the wheel wells just above the tires and that is the only real rust ive found there is some light surface rust here and there but nothing serious, the floor pans are also solid. Ive included pictures of the rust, the truck has had the camper top on it since 1978. The inside of the bed still shines like it did in 1978
This truck is equipped with the inline 6 cylinder engine and 3 speed manual trans that has the column shift. Since I bought the truck I have installed a new copper radiator, radiator hoses, new belt, alternator and new water pump as well as a new battery. The truck starts right up and runs, I have driven it probably 10 miles, it has a miss in the engine at idle and low RPM's. There is a non-fouler on the #4 Spark plug so im assuming its skipping on that cylinder and probably a bad valve or something, other than that the clutch feels fine, brakes work as they should including the parking brake. Headlights and Wipers work and it even has HEAT!
This truck is pretty basic and very easy to work on, it is not beat up as far the body goes there is one spot on the passenger door that looks like a small drag mark but no other notable dents.
I have the original owners manual and dealer build sheet as well as warranty booklet from 1978 and a Clear Title!
The tires on the truck have plenty of tread and hold air just fine, they are flat spotted from sitting. This truck hasnt been driven much in a few years, I wouldnt suggest trying to drive it home, I would trailer it.
I washed one side of the hood and snapped a picture to show how clean it should come.
I also have a list of all maintenance that has been performed on the truck since the 80's.
The reserve is set low in my opinion these trucks are getting harder to find in decent condition and I feel like this one is in better condition than most you will find.please only bid if you plan to buy! '
Thanks!
