1966 Ford Mustang Coupe Sprint Car North Carolina Car, Clean Original Steel
1966 Ford Mustang Chrome Description
In this auction you will find a very rare vehicle that still wears its original Frame and rear quarters. This Classic Car is a 1966 Ford Mustang Coupe Sprint Car, powered by a 200cu.in.-Inline 6 cylinder, 3 speed manual shift. The vehicle appears to be all original as you will see in the pictures provided in this auction. Here are the details as I am the recent owner of this vehicle.
Details: The car was from North Carolina brought here to my location 14 years ago, stored in a dry facility, started restoration in 2014. The exterior of the Mustang has been dismantled and paint has been totally stripped to bare metal using chemicals, no D/A sanders! When Stripped the Professional body shop contacted me to view the procedure of this restoration. The Mustang was completely solid, no replacements of Floors, Frame or body parts, all original steel. It was like this car was in a Time capsule to be reserved in such excellent shape for it's year!
The steps for the paint were as follows, Epoxy Primer multiple coats, all hand blocked. Sealer Primer, multiple coats to seal the car, then hand blocked. Car was painted according to the specs in the glove box of a "Y CODE" Silverish light Blue. The paint is a base coat clear coat style. The car was painted in 2014.
Drivetrain: According to the receipts I was given, It shows the engine was rebuilt and the 3 speed manual transmission was too with a new Clutch as I was told this drivetrain has approx. 200 miles on it before it was purchased from a friend of mine that had it for 12 years, then I purchased it as his wife didn't want to spend the money to restore the car as thats how most of the time it goes. the car seems to shift fine, may need some adjustment on the linkage. The engine will need a 12V Coil as the engine was running but the coil stopped working just needs replacing.
Interior: The interior is a two tone Blue, points to a Sprint Car application on the interior. The seats are mint, the dash has no cracks. The carpet has been replaced with OEM factory style carpet. Headliner appears original, no major rips as seen in old cars. The interior overall is in excellent to mint in my opinion.
Body: All original rust free steel, Frame, body, engine compartment, Trunk and undercarriage. The undercarriage seems to have been undercoated years back. Looks very good. The body lines are straight, flat and crisp. Doors, hood and trunk lid open and shut like factory. Overall this is the cleanest Mustang I have ever seen.
I have all the original parts that were removed from the car. I also have the original style radio, original mustang hub caps, etc. I have purchased new chrome door handles and side quarter molding that fits just in front of the rear wheel, in the quarter panel. I have the windshield and all the glass to install as it was dismantled for a professional restoration. The clear coat was purchased from a paint store which they gave me every day clear coat which was not specified for classics that need wet sanding, As the clear was very thin. The mustang has been 600 grit sanded and ready to be sprayed. No body work needed as this is where the car is at this point at the moment. The car will needed to be painted, assembled as the interior needs to be installed, grille, headlight assembly and tail light assembled along with the chrome. This car is 75% restored to this point, all the major time spent has already been done. It would be a very wise investment to finish. I have also purchased, Rear brake shoes, rear wheel cylinders. The front brakes have been replaced, new hold down brake kit, new wheel bearings and oil seal replaced. This is a four wheel drum car. Very light body style as it rolls easy.
Any professional Classic Restoration will be worth for the condition of this car you may be surprised as this car may bring in thousands when completed to a collector as it has never been modified or Tub for drag racing, All original parts!
The car will need to be transported by the buyer at his expense. I have a clear North Carolina Title. The car is in dry locked facility. I just don't have the time or the space to keep this car. Very rare to find a car in this condition overall as most of the restoration is completed. If you need to see what this car is worth, Nada Guides under the year, make and model of Sprint car as I have been told it is worth $31,200. when finished to the collector world! If you have the qualities of finishing this car, it would be well worth the time and effort.
The car is sold as is where is condition, it will need some light installation on completing this Classic Car. Transportation is the buyers expense.
Payment: A $500.00 non refundable deposit through pay pal to cover their charges, the rest in cash according to the final winning bid. No wire transfers, no checks of any kind. For what the car is set as for the reserve, you could buy a recreational vehicle as a toy.
Any questions, contact me by email-messages, I will be glad to answer.
Summary: This Mustang has been described to the best to my knowledge in detailed as what I have seen, told and witnessed as when the body was stripped to bare metal. A very solid classic car beyond any Ford Mustang I have ever seen in a very long time. again this is a 40 year old, locked in a time capsule condition over all. even the door jambs and door seems are in mint condition. This model is a coupe, not a fastback, not a convertible. Pictures are included in the auction so please take the time, read the description, see the pictures, ask questions if you are unsure before you bid. Anyone with less than 5 feedbacks you will need to contact me so I know you are serious about the car or your bid will be cancelled. The auctions are not a game. This car is offered locally so I do have the right to end the auction.
