1928 Ford Model A Description

This is a REAL steel 1928 Ford Model a Roadster. It has a history as a dirt track racer in the late 40’s at Balboa Stadium in San Diego.

It is a genuine 1928 Roadster body on a genuine 1932 frame, no after-market parts here. The body was narrowed, chopped, and welded on top of the frame. This was all done in approximately 1948 by Al Jerauld of Jerauld’s Mufflers in National City, CA. It was raced on the California dirt track circuit around Southern California for a couple years and then stripped to just the body and attached frame.

It was purchased around 1951 by a member of the Lifters Car Club in San Diego and built as a street hot rod and run for many years. It passed through a few more hands until I acquired it in 2009.

I stripped off the many layers of paint and brought it down to the original metal which shows off the old lead work applied during the original modifications. I put in a metal floor pan, re-built the 383 stroker SBC and improved the brakes with a new master cylinder and lines. It has a ford 9” Posi rear end and 4 drum brakes.

It has brand new Firestone wide white walls on 1934 ford wire wheels, a new gel cell battery and a new B&M shifter. It runs great, drives well for a vehicle with limited suspension and is a real piece of history.

Many people call it a Rat Rod but it is more of an old hot rod jalopy. Whatever you want to call it, it is just super old school cool. Where ever I go, people walk past $50k hot rods to check it out. It is registered as a 1928 ford and has valid registration. I drive it around town and on the freeway, cruises at 75 with ease.
