FatMans Garage is offering a 1965 Ford Mustang coupe for sale. Very open to OFFERS and TRADES.
This car runs and drives great, brakes and steering are very solid, we have been using it as a daily driver over the summer. The only reason that we are selling it that we have way too many projects going on now and need to make some room. The odometer reads 01744 so I am sure it has been turned over. The title reads exempt.
The original motor has been replaced with a 302 V8 engine casting number D2OE-6015 and C4 automatic transmission out of a 1972 Torino. The engine makes good power with its Webber Edelbrock 1405 Performer 600 CFM Square Bore 4-Barrel Air Valve Secondary carburetor and duel exhaust. The carburetor has been gone through and performance upgrades done, not sure what was done, but it runs great. It has a polished aluminum dual plane intake with trick flow chrome valve covers.
We recently installed a brand-new gas tank, starter solenoid and starter. The manual 4-wheel drum brakes have been gone completely through and are in great working condition. We installed a new master cylinder and four new wheel cylinders. The steering and suspension are also very tight and working great. It has a Ford 8-inch rear end with 5 lug axles and hubs. This mustang is riding on full set of 18” chrome wheel wrapped in 235/40R18 Nankang Ultra Sport NS-II tires which are in very good condition with a lot thread left.
The interior is the beautiful factory blue interior with new blue carpet. Automatic shifter on the floor with new aftermarket mechanical gauges under the dash. Factory gauges work fine but with a vintage performance car like this we wanted to be sure everything is functioning correctly. It has buckets seat but the driver’s seat is showing some wear and separating at the seams, it would be an easy seat to recover. Passenger seat, back seat and door panels appear to be original and in good condition.
Now that you have seen the good about this car lets looks at the bad. This car is a great looking 20-footer with blue paint and Shelby inspired white racing stripes, hood scoop and honeycomb mesh grill. The body is very straight and appears to have new quarter panels professionally installed, the trunk is very solid. Lot of new chrome trim pieces installed throughout the car. The paint on this car is amateur quality at best and will need repainted to reach its full potential. The blue is chipping off in places and the white stripes have wrinkled in some spots. The car is still a real head turning going down the road and gets lots of compliments.
