Complete frame-off nut & bolt restoration, documented by receipts and photo album. LA built, factory original, matching numbers, build sheet included, original Kelsey Hayes 15” wheels; VIN tag reads: Engine R-427/425 HP 2-4 barrel carburetors, Trans 5-4 speed transmission, Axle 9 - 4.11 rear end, Color E-Viking Blue, Trim 82 – 500 XL Medium Blue, Date 02D – April 2, 1963, Body 63C – 2-Door Fastback, DSO 72 – San Jose. Heater delete and AZ car most of its life. Registered in the 427 Galaxie Registry. 500XL is known for luxury and 427 is known for speed.
The 2-stage model year (1962-64) reached its peak in 1963 both for engines and body styles. The best was saved for mid-year introduction. All new were the Sports Hardtop (a 2-door hardtop with sloping rear pillar) and a replacement for the 406 HP engine—the 427 HP engine—with a dual quad Holley setup rated at 425 HP and 480 ft.-lbs. of torque.
New slogans: “Super Torque Fords” and “Total Performance”—These 427 fastbacks led Ford to 23 NASCAR victories.
The Thunderbird 427 ci High Performance V-8 came with some mandatory equipment including 4-speed transmission, heavy-duty suspension, heavy-duty battery, 7.10 x 15 in. four-ply nylon tires, large fade resistant brakes, and heftier driveline. Power steering, power brakes, AC were not available with the 427 option.
Engine, transmission, rear differential all rebuilt. Matching numbers: carburetors C3AE BK, C3AE BJ, intake C3AE, block C3AE-AB, heads: C3AE-H.
