A true barn/ garage find. Having only 61500 miles this awesome 1967 Ford LTD Galaxy 500 390 ci. 2 bbl. automatic 2 door coupe slant back with power steering and AC has been parked for the better part of the past 25 years and saw minimal use prior to that. Always garage kept and driven mostly on the weekends by a little ole guy to church, literally. The gentlemen passed away recently and the family decided to part with his lifelong prized possession. He acquired the LTD on November 25th 1968 from Don Drennen Motor Co. a long gone local dealership in Ensley Alabama and has owned it ever since. It resided in the adjoining community of Wylam, AL its' entire life. Records indicate that the sale price was $2740.48. I have all the original paper work including the original warranty data plate. Upon obtaining the LTD I have had fluids and filters changed along with belts and hoses. The valve cover gaskets and water pump is also being changed as it had a rattle in the water pump bearing and the cover gaskets were seeping some oil. The brakes have been gone through completely A-Z with shoes, wheel cylinders, spring kit, hardware kits, adjusters, hoses, and master cylinder, etc. practically everything except the actual hard lines. Points, condenser and rotor were changed and a good fresh tank of premium gasoline were added and she fired up almost instantaneously. She drives great, smooth and soft just as one of these land barges is supposed to with such low mileage. Transmission shifts out perfect. Pretty much everything operates correctly aside from fuel gauge reads low and AC needs charging. Unknown to the family the car has had a repaint most likely in the months prior to this gentleman's purchase. I can find no evidence of any repair work, wreck or damage. The only thing that I can figure is possible hail damage in the first few months of it's life. If you look closely in the right light you can see some small dimples in the top of the front fenders. Pretty hard to pick up on. This is what led me to this assumption. I have owned probably a hundred plus vintage cars in my lifetime, some very, very nice ones, and there has only been one that had the caliber of originality and condition of this car. It is as solid as it was in 1967. It appears to have the original vinyl top and we all know how vinyl top cars breed moisture resulting in rust. Only minimal signs of some peppering can be found in the most usual place, lower corner of rear window under vinyl. The underneath of the car looks just like you would expect, rust free. Trunk may contain original spare, I have not verified this. The original jack is in the trunk. The front tag lends to the preservation of the originality of this car having most likely been installed when he bought the car. George and Lurleen Wallace were kings in the Democratic party here in Alabama. This is an awesome example of a car that was proudly owned and babied by its owner until his passing. I will have the water pump and valve cover gaskets installed by the end of the week. It would be next to impossible to find another one of these with this mileage, 60,500 and original condition. Buyer is responsible for all shipping and transportation. I will assist as much as possible to help with the loading for transport. Payment in cash in full is required within 10 days of end of auction. The car is sold on a Bill of Sale only as Alabama does not issue titles for vehicles over 35 years old. If you have any questions or would like to see the car just give me a call, 205-960-6800.
