1998 Ford Expedition XLT Description

NO RESERVE!! Wepurchased this1998 Expedition XLT with a clear title from the original owner when it had just over 100K miles on it. The engine, transmission and 4WD all work fine and it leaves no leaks on the ground. It seats 8 with the 3rd row in (included). The miles are high but this vehicle has been well taken care of and has amazing capabilities. It does need inspected, and our mechanic wouldn't pass it due to 3 or 4 locations on the bottom of the frame rails are rusted. I welded a section of 1/4" thick diamond tread plate over one of the areas already, and the rest of the plate is provided with the sale (enough to put it on the entire bottom of each rail, although the areas preventing the passing inspection are only approximately 20 sq. in. in total; but it is difficult to weld upside down under a vehicle without a lift and only a floor jack. So if you're willing to do a half-day's worth of welding, or know someone who is at a reasonable cost, I'm confident the frame will pass inspection. The vehicle is being sold as-is. The heater blows warm but not hot. It has a new A/C compressor and the AC runs perfectly. Also has all new (100% of each line) brake lines, newer slotted front rotors, new rear rotors, and all new pads. Aftermarket stereo included as well as the OEM speakers have been replaced with the same size Kicker brand in front and rear. Aftermarket wheels included (shown in photo). Spare tire has full treads. You may need to swap the front driver side tire with the one on the spare to pass inspection as well, but the other 3 appear to have enough tread to pass. Cruise control doesn't work, presumably due to avacuum leak, which hasn't negatively impacted drivability. Engine runs smooth and strong as does transmission and the 4WD. Bumper chrome still all in very good condition. The first generation Expeditions didn't skimp on quality, which is why we've held onto this one. A little weekend TLC with a lift and a welder and you'll have a nice and very capable vehicle for plenty more winters I'd say. Recently installed a brand new battery. Since we've owned this vehicle, I think there was only one time (in 245K miles total probably) that it didn't start (due to battery). Happy bidding!
