1963 Ford Thunderbird Description

Up for sale is a 1963 Ford, Thunderbird Convertible with a very magical presence! Triple White, beautiful paint and body, Art Querfeld designed, retro pearl-beige real leather interior is an extraordinary site to behold and in excellent condition, showing very little wear. It has the original Kelsey Hayes Wire wheels and the famous swing-away steering wheel that eases entry and exit for the driver. This car is very comfortable, reliable and in cosmetically near perfect condition.
This Thunderbird is not one of the 455 Sport Roadsters produced in 1963. It is however all numbers matching 390 V8 convertible, producing 300 HP,106,750 original miles, garaged kept, no rust and I am the third owner, It is exceptionally nice condition, always loved, pampered, adult owned, well serviced, non-smoker, no accidents and High-Octane gas always used.

This Thunderbird is a real pleasure to drive. Itstops turns and accelerates like it should. The car feelssafe at speeds over 80 mph and can be driven briskly in modern traffic with confidence. The braking performanceon this car is outstandingand it hasthat perfect petal feel.Whenemergence braking is require at high speeds theresults are very predictable, down nose pitchattitudewith complete control until lock up. In lock up, the car travels straightas an arrow and can be easly maneuvered when the brakes are released. The power steeringis veryprecise with one finger touch on the wheel. This T-Bird may be one of the best drivingBirds around.

Everything works on the car except the clock and the radio works some times. The car has never had cancer and does not havethe bad pitting of the chrome and pop metal, like northern birdsseems to have. I believe this Thunderbirdhas neverbeen on a salted road. The worst part of the car is thefront wind shieldhas 2 rock chips and the bumpers could be re-chromed. The cars painted surfaces; interior, convertible top, trunk mat, spare tire cover, carpet, rubber, glass, chrome, stainless steel, plastic and paper are all in excellent shape. The exterior Corinthian Paint job is a high quality single stage enamel, buffed to a high gloss, very reflective and has very few flaws. I have also replaced all the bird badges with new. The old adage, it's so clean you can eat off it, applies to just about every surface of car.
1963 was the final year of production for the Bullet Bird. During that year it received some styling changes that enhanced it outward appearance, including a new swopping body line, chrome and black trim on the door that resembles a vent and arched wheel openings at the rear to match the fronts rake. The car spent most of its existence in a small Oklahoma town near Tulsa and its owner enjoyed using it as a parade car for Masonic Charities.
This Thunderbird has a padded dash, factory AM radio, clock, power steering, power brakes, tented windows, electric windows, vent wing windows with Plexiglas deflectors and slide away steering wheel. The interior is the rare and desirable Peal Beige interior with metallic dash and side panels, that all look exceptional. The car has recently receiveda realleather interior and correct pile loop carpet showing almost no ware.
The Thunderbird's convertible top was recently replaced and is very white, no flaws and has a clear back panel. The car also has a new trunk mat kit and spare tire cover. The top design is very noteworthy design element of the car. The convertible top is a totally over the top engineered gismo, with all its complex, orchestra solenoids, electric motors, hydraulic rams and sensors that completely automating the tops process up and down with just a push of button on the driver's door. The top operation is very smooth and is a real attention getting, crowd pleasing event at car shows that lasts for about a 90 seconds.
The car has a nicely detailed engine compartment; most all the parts on the car are original Ford OEM parts. It has a numbers matching "Thunderbird V8" 390, 4 BBL, Cruise-O-Matic transmission with a recent tune up, oil change and I greased all the fitting. The drivetrain has no leaks and it runs perfect. It has a new aluminized duel exhaust system, new water pump, new battery, new fuel pump, new alternator, new voltage regulator, new power steering pump, new high presser power steering hose, new belts, new spark plugs, new cap, new rotor, new plug wires, new hood insulation pads, new shoe brakes and cylinders. The previous owner also did a lot of work to the car as well, it car runs and drives correctly, very reliable and is ideal for year round cruising. This car can be driven anywhere in the US reliably.
This Thunderbird has a set of 4, very valuable, original date coded Feb 1962, Kelsey Hayes 14 inch original wire wheel with 2 original full size knock offs for the front wheels and two aftermarket knock offs for the rear that fit under the wheel pants without interfering and all in excellent condition. I am also including with the sale a vintage, 1963 date code, Faria Tachometer and a new fiberglass Sport Roadster Tonneau Cover that covers the back seat with the sculpted head rests, I have 2 Sport roadster badges not seen in the photos to install and a few other parts.
Collectors agree, the 63 Thunderbird Convertible is an excellent investment and the most desirable of the Birds, second only to the original. It is a very noteworthy car in Ford Motor Company's history and will all ways be remembered as a icon of the JFK era, when men were contemplating on going to the Moon. Captain, your Jet Age T-Bird is gassed up with hi-octane and is waiting for your preflight inspection on the tarmac.TBIRD63, Ready for take-off, runway I35, and heading north for Route 66. Roger TBIRD63 you are cleared for take- off!
