2005 Ford Excursion Limited 4WD 3 owner, GARAGED MAINTAINED truck with EXTRAS
2005 Ford Excursion LIMITED Description
We are selling our 2005 Ford Excursion Limited V10 4WD. It is Mineral Gray Metallic with tan leather interior. It is in excellent condition for the age and mileage.
We bought this vehicle in 2013 from the previous owner that had owned and garaged it since it had around 20K miles on it after they bought it as a certified pre-owned vehicle. They used it primarily for highway driving for a 350 mile round trip 3 days per week for medical appointments. We bought it with 234K and it presently has 261K. We have driven this car to Northern Virginia last year and to Florida with no issues.
It is a Limited and has all options available on an Excursion in 2005. It has climate control, rear heat and air and radio controls, dual power seats, leather interior, heated seats, rear DVD video system with two sets of IR headphones and an in-dash 6 CD changer. The main improvements on the 2005 in addition to the updated front end over the earlier models are auto locking 4WD hubs, climate control, updated dash cluster and updated cylinder heads on the 6.8 V10 to eliminate the spark plug issues on the earlier vehicles.
When we bought it, it needed upper and lower ball joints and sway bar end links. I replaced the ball joints 25K miles ago with Moog re-greasable ball joints and the sway bar end links were replaced with Hellwig polyurethane units. It also has a Hellwig adjustable rear sway bar with polyurethane end links for improved towing. It has a new steering box, new axle seals, recent brakes, new backing plates (only one was bad, extra is included), new parking brake shoes and hardware, 85% Michelin LTX M/S2 Load Range E tires. New spark plugs, two new coils, a new Motorcraft crank position sensor, coolant temperature sensor, thermostat and coolant flush. It also includes a SCT programmer with custom tunes to optimize performance for fuel economy and for towing. The tow tune protects the transmission while towing and the Eco tune improves fuel economy. Both are optimized for 87 octane fuel.
It has a Hayes Energizer III Proportional Brake Controller and WeatherTech mats in rows 1 and 2. This vehicle has no issues towing anything we have put behind it and it gets decent mileage both loaded and unloaded. On the open road at 60-65 mph, we can get 16.5 mpg and through the hills between Ohio and Northern Virginia, we got 14.5 mpg. Loaded with my 3 series BMW race car on an open car trailer, it gets around 11 mpg. It uses about a quart of oil between changes and runs very strong.
It has been garaged since new and it is in great shape for the age and miles. Everything works except for the rear parking sensors (1 is bad) and the drivers seat heater that has been traced to a bad seat heater grid on the seat bottom. The air blows cold and the interior is in excellent condition. The pictures represent the condition of the vehicle well. There is rust on the rear bumper that is common on this model. An aftermarket bumper is only a couple of hundred dollars online.
I checked and our local credit union will loan around $12K against this vehicle with the age and mileage. This is truly a fly in and drive home vehicle. We have never had any trouble with the it and would drive it anywhere. I build my own race cars and have maintained this vehicle in top condition as a primary tow vehicle. I couldn't afford for it to break down while out of state so no expense or maintenance was spared.
This is a used vehicle with no warranties expressed or implied. It is owned free and clear with a title ready for transfer.
