1968 Ford Mustang Fastback
1968 Ford Mustang Fastback Description
Up for sale is a true, one of a kind, custom fastback. This Mustang started life as a factory V-8 car and an original fastback, not a converted coupe. A very solid Nevada car provided a rust free platform to transform into a stunning Eleanor style creation. All of the fiberglass work was performed by a N.C.R.S. certified restoration professional. The fit and finish is some of the best work I have ever seen. The paint is all PP&G, DBC Deltron 2000 Base coat and Concept 2021 Clear coat. The stripes were laid down first in a fine metallic silver then the candy red was applied. The stripes were masked and the black was laid down over the car, then the entire car was cleared. There were 4 coats of clear then sanded then an additional 2 coats then final sanded and buffed to perfection. There is no ridge on the stripes whatsoever. The pictures do not do this car any justice and the red is not a solid color but a very stunning metallic, candy red. The side stripes and wheel centers were painted in the same process. The Eleanor body kits are somewhat difficult to fit so many pieces were reshaped and heavily modified to fit perfectly. All normal driving function lights work fine, turn signals etc... The front glass is new the rest is very nice original. The window trim is also very nice polished original. The interior is restored with new door panels, new carpet and dash. The front seats are TMI sport R. The rear seat is stock. Polished tilt column and Cobra wheel. There is no heater. The console is also a TMI sport R. The car was mini-tubbed to accommodate the 285/40/17 rear tires. The engine is based on a late model GT block with a one piece rear main, All forged rotating, Scat stroker crank, H-beam rods, Speed-pro 11.5:1 forged pistons displacing 347 cubic inches. Trick flow hydraulic roller valvetrain, cam and rockers, 272/278-.542/.562 RPM range is 2,800-6,800 RPM. Heads are fully ported Brodix Track 1's. Port matched intake, AED pro 650HO Carb. Ignition is an HEI. Coated Headman hedders, and 3 inch flowmaster exhaust. Aluminum Griffin radiator and dual fan set up. Thermostatic controlled runs very cool. All electronics including ignition run through relays. 120 amp one wire alternator. Serpentine belt conversion. Aluminum pulleys.Transmission is a HD Tremec 5-speed, with hydraulic clutch, disc and plate are Ford Racing. Flywheel is billet SFI approved. The rear end is a custom Currie 9 plus. New Dutchman axles, new31 spline posi with 3.89 gears. Housing is powder coated. Brakes are 4 wheel Wilwood four piston dynalite pro with slotted vented rotors, The master is also a Wilwood 7/8 bore and the car stops better than any other Wilwood set up I have had. The car has been lowered two inches with Summit rear lowering leaf springs and Global West front springs. All front suspension is brand new, Scott Drake control arms and Hotchkis sway bar. Unisteer rack and pinion. The wheels are custom built American Racing Cobra 427's. 17x8 in front 17X10 rear.I will be trying to add more and better pictures and if you want something specific please ask, in fact, please ask any and all questions prior to purchasing the car. I am not interested in trades at this time. Please send me your number and I will get back to you. Serious only please not a lot of time for story tellers. Not really interested in what you would have done differently either. The car is very unique and draws huge crowds where ever it goes. Always the center of attention. Very throaty exhaust tone. I have tried my best to describe the car but cannot remember it all. I am the builder of the car from front to back so ask me anything you want and I will get back to you ASAP. I will help coordinate shipping and overseas transport. Thanks for looking.
