1999 Ford Ranger 4WD Extended Cab FX (Off-Road) Description

1999 Ford Ranger Truck 4WD, Extended Cab, FX Off-Road
80,079 Original Miles
Doesn't need anything, ready to go. Clean carfax.
Two sets of tires: Winter Snows (first close-up photo), and 3 Season BF Goodrich TA Radials on really sharp custom rims (second close-up photo)
Up for auction is a 1999 Ford Ranger that has always been in Michigan. We were the third owners. The truck was originally purchased by a vet, and unfortunately sat for a very long time (see three pages of just downloaded carfax report in photos, first page). The second owner wound up putting a rebuilt engine in the truck, the engine seals must have gone with lack of use from the first owner (that's what the dealer told us, second owner traded it in). We purchased the Ranger with 46,820 miles on it from a Ford dealer 3.5 years ago, and it was my husband's daily driver until we divorced. I got the vehicle in the divorce settlement, our house is in the country on top of a large hill and in the winter they don't plow much - 4WD is a must (the truck can handle 7-10" of unplowed snow has been our experience). After divorcing, my husband returned to the city and got a new car. I'm selling the Ranger to get a 4WD SUV instead, I feel like I am driving my old life by keeping this truck and want something newer. You will see on the carfax there was a title transfer this fall but no owner change, that was before the divorce was final. We transferred the truck from my husband's name into mine while we were still married so there would be no transfer taxes.
Especially when the three season tires are installed the truck looks sharp. There are two small spots of rust on the tailgate (see photo), and very small surface spots on thebottom of the driver door, a few on the passenger door. Some minor scratches here and there in the paint as one might expect for its age. Underneath there is some rust, please see photos of the undercarriage. I don't know anything about the rebuilt engine although there's a sticker on the side of it that may have information if you want to research it, I was unable to photograph it but can get you the information. The truck was garaged with us, oil changed every 3,000 miles. I put in a new battery in this past fall and the tires are in reasonable shape (see detail photos of treads on both sets). It has a tow package, but if you have not owned one of these vehicles (this was my second, I worked on these at Ford as an engineer) they are under-powered for towing even with the V6. Not sure why that is, but our previous 1999 Ranger was the same. In addition to daily transportation, we used Rangers to tow a small 6'x8' trailer with 20 bales of hay twice a year and occasionally to haul a small piece of yard equipment, and not over 55 mph. I would not recommend using this truck to tow more load than that from my experience.
The FX off-road package gives the Ranger a higher-than-normal-for-a-truck ground clearance. It sits well above most other trucks and SUV's on the road - all except for large off-road trucks or 4 Runners. Kind of a king or queen of the world feeling, and it's a higher step up, just be aware of that, my husband and I were tall so it did not matter. When the engine was replaced the second owner put on an aftermarket exhaust, more free flowing (see photos), not loud but a tad louder than the factory exhaust. It has power locks, a CD player, the extended cab, and a high quality full hardshell bed liner with snap-on tonneau cover. The cover is not the easiest thing for a girl's fingers to re-attach if it's 20 degrees out, it is easier when warm, but it is workable. There's a two-by-four inside the bed that pops out to keep cargo where you want it (my addition). Never owned by a smoker, the interior is in decent, to-be-expected shape for its mileage. There are a set of seat covers that come with the Ranger (not installed in photos, I think they are ugly) that lived on top of the seats much of the time, my former husband drank coffee and tended to spill it, so the covers protected the upholstery. The truck is cleaned and vacuumed but has not been detailed.
If you'd like to hear it run, I have a video I can e-mail to you. If you'd like to inspect it and drive it, or if you want to call with questions I am Susan and my cell is (734) 645 1557, the truck is in Ann Arbor, MI dayside. Text is the fastest way to reach me. I have all of the repair records from its time with us, we used Victory oil change most of the time and I see they don't input into Carfax.
PLEASE conduct any test drives or inspections before bidding - thanks. Or if you buy it sight unseen (which I hope you will not do) - please don't complain later if there's something about the truck that you don't like.
Would appreciate full payment and pickup of the truck in Dexter, Michigan within the 7 days that ebay specifies, and a $500 deposit for the winning bidder. Thanks for looking!
