2000 Ford Excursion Limited Description

3 of my 6 kids are now out of the house and time to downsize our vehicle. We have absolutely loved this vehicle for the 7 years we have had it. We purchased it down south so the body has no rust. The 7.3 Diesel engine is known to be one of the best diesel engines made and at 287 K it shows no signs of slowing down. No need to add oil between changes. No leaks. Transmission is strong with no issues. Transfer case was replaced at around 250 K. 4 wheel drive works 100% although I changed from auto locking hubs to manual locking hubs as the auto locking wasn't always working (likely a vacuum issue I couldn't track down). Heavy Duty towing hitch with brake controller. Seats 8. Limited package so has leather, TV system, power seats, Multi-CD changer, etc.. Just took a 2,000 miles road trip with it at Thanksgiving with no issues.
No dents but does have scratches. Also, clear coat on paint is peeling on the roof (was like that when I bought it 7 years ago. The person I purchased it from says this vehicle has a chip that gives it better gas mileage. I get close to 20 MPG on the highway and it has a lot of pep for a 7.3. Also blows black smoke when you accelerate hard which is typical with these chips as the fuel mixture is richer but is what gives it so much pep.
New parts in the last year:- Starter
- Glow Plugs
- Alternator
- Battery
- Tires (brand new in November)- ECM
- Front Brakes & Rotors
Now for the bad:- Cracked windshield (from hauling 2X4's last month and hitting the brakes too hard. :( Currently does not impair drivers vision but could spread into field of view- Top of windshield leaks during heavy rains. This should be rectified when the cracked windshield gets replaced.
- Passenger side front window only works occasionally.
- Drivers side back window does not work
- It has something that slowly drains the battery when sitting. If not started within a couple days, it won't be dead but will not have enough juice to start it. Don't know the cause.
- The trailer lights & brakes don't always work as they should. Took it to a hitch guy and he said Ford has a pigtail that runs from the bumper to the hitch connection (about a 2 foot cable) and said it is not making tight connection. I never called Ford to get a new one as I rarely tow with it.
- Front seats leather have rips. We have seat covers on the seats. Back seats are in decent shape. - The flip down TV screen works but it came with VHS which is no longer in there. In the past I would connect a DVD player and external speakers to that screen for trips.
Because of these issues, I am pricing it below blue book with no reserve. Please feel free to ask any questions. I have done my best to list all the issues that I can think of but this is a 17 year old vehicle and may have other minor issues that I have just gotten used to. :) Interior is decent but carpets do have normal wear and tear of 17 years of hauling kids.
I am willing to help with arranging shipping or picking you up from a local airport. This is still our daily driver so mileage will change although we are actually not at 287K yet but likely will be by the end of the auction.

On Jan-30-17 at 10:30:13 PST, seller added the following information:

There were a couple requests for interior pics so I have added those. You will see some black dots on the carpet in the very back. This was from hauling bags of asphalt patch and a couple of bags had holes in them. I haven't tried to get the spots out but was going to buy a rubber trunk liner for that area if we were going to keep the vehicle longer. I took the seat covers off the front seats so you can see the extent of the rips.
I also added another exterior picture that shows I have put the aluminum rim back on the passenger rear as I picked up a nail in the new tire and was getting it repaired.
I took a picture of the top of the windshield where I sprayed a rubber gasket material in attempt to stop the windshield leak. This can be removed once the windshield is replaced.
