1976 Ford Torino Gran Torino Description

This car was originally custom ordered at a Ford dealership in Tennessee by a fan of the TV show. He did not want the Limited Edition Ford was manufacturing (1305 of them) due to the problem of the "stripe" not matching the TV car. He wrote detailed notes (see pic) of exactly what he wanted. This car was ordered to replicate the "striped tomato" on the hit show. Soon after, it was built next to the Limited versions in the Chicago, Ill. plant and rolled off the line on May 21, 1976. It was delivered June 10, 1976.
This car has lived it's life entirely in the south and has no rust. It has always been stored indoors and went through paint restoration in 2006 to match original paint job. At the same time, the interior metal was treated with POR-15 to further protect the car for the future.
Condition of this car is exceptional. Metal is original and never in any accidents. There is no body damage and paint is perfect. There are no rips or tears on the upholstery and is all original. There are no cracks on original dash and all interior parts are OEM and also in exceptional shape.
Mechanically the car just went through a complete tune-up and maintenance at Car-Tech in North Scottsdale. The engine is strong and transmission is smooth. Tires: BF Goodrich Radial T/A are in decent shape. I've kept it original. Not a fan of chrome valve covers, etc..
This car is the only one built with this package ( see Marti Report ) out of the 209,168 made that year.
NOTE: I am also advertising this locally, if it sells before auction ends, I reserve that right. A pre-bid inspection is welcomed. An immediate non-refundable deposit of $2,000.00 is required upon auction end.
This is a car that is irreplaceable. It has lived a very well cared for life and turns more heads than the most expensive cars on the road. I have owned this since 2005 and the only reason for parting with it is the need of more cash for a business that I am investing in. If I don't receive at least the reserve price, I will just keep it. I was lucky to find it after looking for a long time. My sons love it and my oldest is the one that watched the show on DVD with me and begged me to get one. I owned a blue one as a kid and always wanted the "real deal". I believe this car, with it's one of a kind status, it's unique history and care, will appreciate in value. I have all the original paperwork, build sheet and manuals. It is a blast to own and if it sells, it will be a very sad day.
I am more than happy to answer any questions and feel free to contact me by email first and then if a discussion is needed, I will talk to you by phone.
