1965 Ford Mustang Base 3.3L
1965 Ford Mustang Description
I am posting this 1965 Ford Mustang for my friend and neighbor. At 82, he is down sizing his personal posessions. Jack bought the Mustang 9 years ago. He spent 6 years bringing it to the present level. During the last 3 years - he has only logged 60 miles on it. The rest of the time it was garaged with a cover. Before agreeing to the posting, I insisted that I personally inspect the vehicle to assure that all information would be true and accurate. The following represents my observations of the vehicle:
- EXTERIOR: The SEA FOAM GREEN paint was applied by the Troy Norris Shop. (Troy has a very positive reputation for painting classics.) I found the 3 year paint job to be glossy and flawless. The BODY PANELS come together with straight seams. The DOORS line up and close properly. All the CHROME is in good condition. The FRONT BUMPER had a few slight dings. All the GLASS is in good condition with no chips, cracks or fogging. The TIRES are B.F. Goodrich with 65% tread. The right front HUB CAP has some slight dings.
- INTERIOR: The DASH is totally perfect with no cracks or fading. The STEERING WHEEL is in new condition. The front and rear SEATS show very little wear. SIDE PANELS are perfect. The CARPET appears to be original and should be replaced. RADIO - AM/FM. The INSTRUMENT GAUGES are functional.
- UNDER HOOD: The BATTERY appears recent. All BELTS and HOSES are good. The OIL LEVEL is full and clean. There is no indication of RUST. A proper cleaning would improve the appearance of this area.
- TRUNK AREA: The trunk PAD is of original type. The JACK and SPARE are present. No visible RUST.
- TEST DRIVE: The STARTUP took three tries and the engine ran a little rough for a moment. After it warmed it was smooth and sounded strong. Fresh gas would probably rectify that issue. Once on the open road the 6 cyl. provided adequate ACCELERATION and the AUTOMATIC shifted sure and smooth. The vehicle traveled down the highway straight and smooth. SOFT BRAKING provided a straight stop. HARD BRAKING caused a slight pull to the left. Some adjustment may be necessary.
- OVERALL CONCLUSION: The odometer indicates low mileage (27,500). This could not be proven or dis-proven. However, the overall condition indicates low mileage. The Mustang is not "Show Ready" but could be with some effort. (or a reliable driver).
