2000 Ford Excursion XLT Description

This 2000 Excursion has served this family well for over a decade. Most of the kids are gone now and we've outgrown it. Well maintained by owner, it wears its miles well. Traveling from New York to Virginia regularly, it would drive anywhere today.

• I'm seeking an honest deal, so I'll describe this truck as honestly as I can. I've done all the maintenance on the truck for over ten years. I've kept pretty good records which you are welcome to. The car has never towed, raced or been abused by me.

• The silver Excursion looks and drives very well. It came from Texas a decade ago, and both front door windows were tinted there to match the stock tint in the rear windows. It looks good. It has a very unusual and rare BLUE interior which offsets the silver body and blue paint stripes for a cool look.

• First, you must understand that the car is far from perfect. It has the regular wear and tear that any 2000 driven daily would have. In addition, the clearcoat is flaking on the hood and top of both fenders as it does on most Ford products of this vintage. This is evident in the photos.

• The V-10 motor is free of any bad sounds. It runs smooth and quiet. The 4R100 transmission was rebuilt about 20 months ago by a real professional shop. It is warranted until August but that warranty is NOT transferable to the new owner.

• The truck needs four new tires. The spare is excellent, the others are bald. Even with these tires, the truck tracks true with no vibrations at any speed up to 90 MPH. We still drive it, so the mileage may be higher when it is sold.
  

• There is a small tear in the outside seam of the driver's seat, which is visible in the photo but I am including a FORD-made NOS blue replacement seat cushion upholstery that you can have installed.

• At times, it will take two attempts to start, but it starts reliably always. I have always used Mobil 1 synthetic oil and it uses a quart of oil between oil changes. There are the usual dings and scratches, most of which are visible in the photos. There is some rust along the bottom edge of one front door that isn't visible unless you look for it.

• The vacuum locking hubs for four wheel drive are temperamental, as all the Ford ones are. But these have been service annually and could probably use a going over to make 4-wheel-drive locking quicker.
