1995 Ford F-150 XLT Description

1995 Ford F150 XLT Flareside

4x4 short box

I’ve owned this truck for 6 years and have been mechanically restoring it along the way.I am a retired engineer and have developed a physical condition that makes it difficult for me to get in and out of this truck easily and have therefore decided to offer it for sale before finishing the cosmetic and body restoration work.

The truck is a 1995 F150 short box Flareside 4x4 with the 5.8 liter and E4OD automatic transmission.I’ll include a detailed listing of all mechanical work done, but the short story is the engine has been rebuilt (and upgraded significantly), the transmission has been rebuilt to heavy duty standards, the rear end has been completely rebuilt, and the suspension and front end components have all been replaced.

The fuel injection system has been upgraded from the original Speed Density system to the more modern Ford Mass Air system using an AST kit. It now runs on an A9P mustang based mass air computer and uses more efficient sequential fuel injection rather than the original bank fire system, allowing optimum tuning to optimize the engine modifications. The electronically controlled E4OD transmission is now independently controlled by a dedicated aftermarket control computer.

The engine is designed and currently tuned to run using 88 octane fuel, but this can be altered using the programming software included.

This truck is ready to be driven anywhere! Most of the mechanical work was done at 193,000 miles. The truck has been driven to South Dakota from Alaska where I lived at the time and currently reads around 213,000 miles. The truck is built to tow and the mechanical restoration is about 95% completed (only remaining item is a potential brake job since I have never looked at the brakes). The truck could be used as a very nice daily driver as-is or could get some cosmetic restoration to become a truly nice looking and reliable classic pickup!

The upgraded 5.8 liter V-8 with 4 speed automatic overdrive transmission was designed to produce 335 HP, 400 ft-lb torque in the 2000-4500 rpm range, where it is of everyday use!It was professionally dyno tuned at O2 Dynamics in Rapid City South Dakota in March 2016 and runs flawlessly. It is very easy to drive with power everything, cruise control, A/C (blows very cold), and handles very “car like” on the highway. The new on all 4 corners springs (factory specs) and 31x10.5-15 Goodyear Wrangler DuraTrac tires on factory aluminum rims make the ride very civilized, while the tire tread, posi-traction rear end, manual hubs and “old school” manual shift transfer case ensure off road capability.

Load capacity is somewhat limited by the factory new specification rear springs and 6-1/2 foot flareside box (only 4 feet wide and 6.5 feet long), but the truck does have a 2” receiver hitch and factory 6 pin trailer connector. The truck was initially set up to haul snowmobile and atv trailers in mountainous Alaska.Included is a 2 volume OEM Ford factory service manual set (not the elcheapo Chilton’s manuals) and a binder containing receipts, instruction books, and documentation for all work done. This last item is important because all too often engine rebuilds described as “complete internals, balanced and blueprinted” turn out to merely be new rings and bearings and a nice exterior paint job. This truck was adult built and owned and all work is supported by documentation.

I am listing this truck with a Buy-It-Now of $6315, which is significantly below what I have into the engine and transmission alone! I arrived at this price by taking the $6000 minimum I could feel comfortable parting with the truck for and adding the EBay listing and PayPal cashout fees I’ll incur due to selling through EBay to arrive at my price of $6315.

An immediate $500 deposit is required using PayPal when the purchase is made through this listing, with the balance due in CASH, CERTIFIED BANK CHECK, or PAYPAL. Bank check or PayPal payment must clear my bank prior to shipment of the truck.
Picking up the truck in person is preferred. If a service such as USHIP is utilized, all arrangements are the buyers' responsibility. I can recommend Bison Transport out of Bison SD as I have used them on previous purchases through USHIP and they were very affordable. It is also possible for me to drive the truck to your location WITHIN THE CONTINENTAL UNITED STATES for $0.65 per mile one-way (so if you’re 1000 miles away, it will cost an additional $650 for me to personally deliver it).If I drive the truck to you, full payment in advance of delivery for the truck and the delivery charge will be required. The truck will be fully insured during transit to you if I drive it.

I've placed 100 detail photos on the internet since EBay limits the number of photos I can show. Many of these photos are of the typical "problem rust areas" for Ford trucks to emphasize the condition this truck is in. You will note that there is a slight tweek in the hood on the passenger side where appears someone may have slammed the hood while a tool was left on the fender. Additionally, the 1" diameter U shaped brackets that support the running boards on both sides are pretty well rusted out. The running boards are tight and stable, but replacement brackets really would be nice. Other than that, the frame has surface rust as the original rustproofing has dried and peeled off in most spots. The lower rear of each front fender show early signs of rust, but replacement fenders are cheaper than bodywork to repair the originals if a paint job is in the future. Lower doors and rocker panels look fine.

This truck is also listed for sale locally on craigslist and is parked on the street with a sign in the window. If it sells locally before someone clicks “buy-it-now” on EBay, the auction listing will be terminated and the truck goes to the local buyer. So don’t delay too long if you’re seriously interested!

Any questions, just ask.
