2003 Roush Boyd Coddington California Roadster
2003 Ford Mustang Roush Boyd Coddington California Roadster Description
I am the third owner of this classic Roush Special Edition Boyd Coddington California Roadster. This car is number 36 out of a total of 58 that were built in 2003. See the photos for a copy of the window sticker and the Roush vehicle history showing the supercharger that was added at the Roush factory in Livonia, MI.
This car was a joint effort between Roush Performance and legendary hot rod builder Boyd Coddington to build the ultimate limited-edition Mustang. A key feature of the California Roadster is the Coddington "Smoothie II" polished aluminum wheels. Here are some of the other features....
• California Roadster design team took a Roush Stage 3 Mustang and blended it with classic hot- rod look that the Coddington company has helped shape since the '60s• Roush Stage 3’s are pumped up with a Roush Roots-style supercharger. The blower brings the total number of ponies in the corral to 360 at 5,250 (torque is a robust 375 at 3,000).• The body was treated to a DuPont custom-mix silver over factory Ford black
• The factory front sway bar was yanked, replaced with a 35mm unit to alleviate body roll.• The stock springs were replaced with a new set that lowers the Mustang 1.5 inches in the front and 1 inch in back. (The lower center of gravity helps this Mustang stay planted when cornering.)
• The suspension is standard Stage 3 fare, with shocks and struts that are custom-valved to Roush specifications. • The Driver keeps track of the engine through a set of white-faced gauges in the stock cluster that Boyd Coddington has signed giving it an authentic look
• Verifying each California Roadster is a custom ID plate that has been machined from 6061-billet aluminum with its identifying number.• The leather interior has been custom stitched by Classic Soft Trim, and the Boyd Coddington logo is proudly embroidered on the front seats
