1971 Ford F-100 Sport Custom Styleside Description
1971 FORD F-100 Sport Custom2wd Styleside Pickup
Up for auction with no reserve, this classic 1971 pickup, in working order, being sold from southern Idaho. This pickup has been in one family since the 70's. Maintained and driven semi-regularly through the years, it has only recently been parked, in lieu of a new owner.
I found this F-100 as you see it, having sat a couple years. I offered the current owner my services to sell the pickup via auction for you! Upon my inspection, I found new ignition components, new radiator, water pump, and otheressentialsunder the hood. With old gas in the Ford Motorcraft / Autolite 2100 2vcarburetor, I decided to flush the fuel lines/tank, and rebuild the carb to factory specifications. It is a numbers matching carb, 351 cfm, 1.21. Upon a little tuning, and a small timing adjustment, this 'ole 360 came to life, and runs just lovely. The engine is original to the truck. Including the oil-bath air cleaner! If you're hunting for an original, unmolested starter project, this would be a great buy. Compare the low long-bed prices vs inflated short bed prices! Maybe it's worth starting with a 131" F-100, and cutting it down to suit?
Let's highlight some key points of this F-100:

- Tires fair; 50-70% tread - Holding 50psi.
- Excellent CAB ... See notes;
The cab is very tight and original. No rust/holes.Including solid cab mounts. Good floors. Uncut/cancer free doors. Cab corners are perfect. Drip rails are excellent. No damage. The cab is everything you would look for in a restoration candidate.
The Poor
- Passenger side damage on the tool box. See photos.
- Front fenders are solid. But not super straight. See photos.
- Some oilaccumulation under rear main/transmission. I didn't identify any drips, but it's greasy down there.
- Dash pad is shot.
- There's a 'buzz', when in park at idle. Not sure where / why? Something minor. An Annoyance.
The overall condition is exactly what you would expect from an all-original pickup, which has seen light-duty driving and minimal work. The bed is very clean, having been under dry camper shell for many years. No cancer underneath. This truck wasn't worked hard. Mostly a cruiser. It's a solid, running/driving dry-climate pickup, that's ready for restoration, or weekend tinkering. You won't bedisappointed! The shell is included, and doesn't leak. Note; posted speed limit of 35mph kept me from showing you the pickup at cruise. Sorry! It does ride very nice, no odd sounds or vibrations. Steers wonderfully! Brakes very nice as well! Exhaust leak on the passenger side is a big noisy. Throttle response is great. Vac advance/timing working very well. Shifted good, but needs a tranny oil change / servicing. Very pleasurable to drive.
