1965 Ford Mustang Fastback K-Code GT Pony Interior Description

1965 Mustang Fastback GT, K-Code, with Pony Interior. This Mustang is powered by a High Performance 289CI / 271HP, toploader 4-speed, and a 9"rear end. The current owner has owned this car forwell over 30 years and for the majority of that time the car has been in storage, out of sight and out of mind. The owner alsoowned and operated a Mustang restoration business formany years turning out many high end, quality, national show winning restorations. During this time frame he kept two cars for himself, this K-Code fastback and a fully restored 1965 convertible. During the last 4 or 5years a meticulous ground up restoration was started on the fastback and worked onas time permitted. This was a nice car to start with only showing only 55,450miles, believed to beactual, but there is no documentation. The car sat In storage long enough, not being started or even turned over that the engine seized up, so the numbers matching original 289CI /271HP Hipo was completely gone through and built back to factory specs bya reputableautomotive machine shop in the area. The engine currently has zero miles. The belly of the car has been detailed to new condition. The brakes have been gone through with the following new (not rebuilt) parts: master cylinder, calipers, rotors, wheel cylinders, pads, shoes, emergency brake cables, brake hoses, and more. The drive train is in the car and the engine compartment is nearly complete, including the fresh Hipo engine, the rebuilt original manual choke carburetor, the rebuilt original dual point distributor, a new 4-core radiator, new fuel pump, new water pump, new speedometer cable, new chrome Hipo valve covers and air cleaner, new solenoid, all new original style hose clamps, in addition to all of the new belts, hoses, distributor cap, plugs, plug wires, and other things normally replaced when installing an engine. Since the car was in storage for so long, the body was in very good condition having only a few dings and bruises one would expect on a car that was only on the road for a few years. All of the body work has been completed, and a fresh coat ofDark Highland Green paint has beenappliedbringing back the original showroom luster, add the new white GT stripe kit, and it looks absolutely amazing. All of the fender badges and stripe letters are new and ready to be installed. Here is where this story takes an unusualturn. The owner is burnt out on restoring this Pony andsays he wants to drive and enjoy cars instead of working on them. He is done! So, if you have the desire, ability, and funds to purchase and finish this project, then this is your chance to own one of the mostrare, highly sought after Mustangs in history. All of the metal panels, and the fiberglass interior pieces have been painted back to the original Ford paint codes. The majority of the interior has been purchased new, such as seat covers and seat cushions, pony door panels, pony kick panels, dash pad, woodgraindashbezel, rear view mirror, threshold moldings, glove box, new windshield and rubber gasket, all new weather stripping has already been installed, and Iam probably missing something. The front and rear pony seats have been recovered by a professional, and look better than new, even the burlap was replaced on the bottoms. All front end parts and rubber items showing wear were replaced and the front end is ready for alignment. The car still has it's 8,000 RPM Rally Pac, and 5 original chrome Styled Steel Wheels with 5 new (zero mile) Michelin tires mounted and balanced. So, basically finish the interior, install the windshield, finish installing the exterior trim, install the complete exhaust system manifolds back(new GT exhaust trumpets go with the car), get the car aligned and I am sure that again I am missing something, but regardless, all of the hard work is done. In the hands of the right person this car could be finished and on the road in a matter ofdays to enjoy for this spring and upcoming summer. This will be an easy project! The owner has a good Missouri title in hand and in his name. I have tried to describe this Mustang to the best of my ability, but I probably missed something that you need to know, if so, please ask. If you would like to inspect this car in personprior to the end of the auction, again please ask and arrangements will be made. The car is currently in a building with a lift so you can inspect the bottom without laying on the floor. Since the car has not been started since the rebuildand is currently not drivable, there will be no test drives or listening to the engine. This Mustang will need to be transported to it's new home and that will be the responsibilityof the new owner. If needed, help on this end with loading or assisting the transporter can be provided.Transfer of the car and title will be made when payment in full has been received. Thanks for looking and good luck in the bidding.
