1970 Mustang Mach 1 Mach1
1970 Ford Mustang Description
This Mach1 has had a complete rotisserie restoration. Everything works great. The body, fenders, doors, hood, trunk lid are all original and are rust free. The shock towers were replaced with Dynacorn parts and the shock tower brace was replaced with a one-piece high-strength steel brace (failure of the shock towers on the early Mustangs is very common, the replacement parts cure the problem). The interior floor, walls and doors are lined with sound deadeningaluminum faced butyl material (see picture where back-seat is removed). Some chrome is new, some is original. Front bumper is new. All the glass is good-no cracks or chips. All weather stripping is new. The rear widow louver and rear spoiler are new after-market. The car was stripped to bare metal throughout before painting. The color is deep red similar to Ford Ruby Red. The black stripes are painted not decals.
The interior is new and copies the original Mach1 DeLuxe style. New parts include the dash pad, headliner, carpet, underlayment, seat upholstery, sun visors, door panels, sill plates, fold-down seat trim and carpet, trap door and quarter panel walls. The quarter panel walls have been reinforced inside and out to properly support the fold-down seat (another problem area with old Mustangs).
The tilt-steering wheel is period-correct and the rim-blow horn switch is new. The speedometer was replaced with a New-Old-Stock Ford OEM speedometer with 0 miles (see photo). The radio is period-correct 1970 Lincoln/Mercury and has "search" and "scan" functions as well as an electric antenna circuit. The old radio paper capacitors were replaced and the radio restored. The power antenna is buried in the right quarter panel. Door and dash speakers are new. The clock is rebuilt using a Quartz conversion kit. The trunk latch is electric with the push button near the radio.
Embroidered floor mats front and rear included. The seats were restored using new seat foam with wider than standard bolsters and 1" added seat depth. A carpeted false trunk floor level with the folded-down seat covers and protects the fuel tank. This floor can be easily removed. Installed new front seat belts and reused original rear belts. The Hurst shifter is original and shifts smoothly.
The 351Cleveland 4V has a complete freshoverhaul and corresponds to the odometer reading. It was bored .020" and crank ground .030". Roller rockers added and installed Lunati cam P/N 10320701. Oil pump is new. New Edelbrock 4 barrel carburetor and aluminum manifold and Ford cast aluminum valve covers are installed. This car uses regular fuel-not premium fuel. The distributor, coil and spark plug wiring are new. The starter, and alternator are new remanufactured. Starter solenoid an voltage regulator are new.
The radiator, hoses, heater core and hot water valve are all new, the water pump is newly remanufactured.
The brake master cylinder, booster, distribution block, hoses, pads and shoes are all new. Rear slaves honed and rebuilt.
The clutch plate, slip yoke and universal joints are new.
The shocks, ball joints, upper and lower control arms are new. The power steering valve is rebuilt. All steering hoses are new.
The exhaust has new custom headers, x crossover, pipe, 30" glas-pac mufflers and original Mustang stainless steel tips. This car doesn't purr- it growls.
From the condenser to the evaporator, the only air conditioning part that isn't new is the dash controls. It is a R134a system using a Sanden compressor.
The fuel tank, fuel pump and level sensor are new.
The 3.0 ratio, 9" rear end is positive traction type-Ford calls it "Traction Lok". The rear axle bearings are new.
The four tires are new BFG P225/60R15. The new Magnum 500 wheels come equipped with new center caps and chrome valve stems and chrome lug nuts. Four lug nuts are theft-resistant locking type requiring the use of a matching keyed wrench socket which is included.
The car has "sport" lights and sequential hood and tail lights.
The mileage is unknown not 50,000 as noted -Ebay requires a number. Everything on this car works as it should and with all the new parts and restoration should continue to work properly for a long time but I can't guarantee anything.
