In 1966, Shelby Automobiles, together with the Hertz Corporation, produced a special line of the GT 350 Mustangs, which were available for Hertz customers to rent at select Hertz rental locations in the USA. These cars, numbering 1000 in total, were eventually sold to the public after their rental car lives were over. Most of these cars were painted black with gold Le Mans striping. Thus the famous nickname, "Rent-A-Racer." These GT 350-H cars are sought after today with some selling at major auto auctions, including Barrett-Jackson.

In 2006, to commemorate the 40th anniversary of that automobile, Hertz and Shelby againcollaborated to produce 500 more automobiles for the "Rent-A-Racer" program. Thus, the Shelby "GT-H" was born. Again, these cars were only available to rent at select Hertz rental agencies in North America. They featured a 325 HP 4.6 liter GT V8 engine, 5-speed automatic transmission, 90 mm cold air intake kit, a special Ford Racing package, and performance suspension.

In early 2007, Hertz began to send these cars to auto auctions and most ended up at Ford dealers across the country, to be made available to the public for purchase. This vehicle is #434 of only 500 produced. Custom striped car cover included.
