1965 Ford Mustang Description

1965 MUSTANG

This auction is for a 1965 Ford Mustang that has been garage stored since the 70's. The car belonged to my Grandparents who obtained it in the mid 70's. Sometime around 1979 it was decided that the motor and transmission be removed for overhaul. I have no idea why this was done as the car was running perfectly well with most likely only 103,654 miles as shown on the odometer. The engine overhaul was never completed and the car has sat inside storage ever since. The original engine block is long gone however I do have the original transmission which did receive a rebuild by the local tranny shop. My Grandfather was a rather eccentric person. Each time he found a small nick or rock chip in the paint he would scuff the area and spot it with primer. I have either removed or covered most all of the primer spots with thinner and touch up paint. This car maintains the original Ford paint. It has never been wrecked and has never received any bondo repairs. It is basically as rock solid as the day it was manufactured. With the exception of a single very small spot of rust in the passenger door corner down low the car is rust free. All the glass is good and all windows work properly. The radio is missing. He also removed the carpet back then with intention of replacement. The Deluxe Pony interior with Wood Grain steering wheel aside from the carpet is all original and in great shape. One of the headliner seams has some rotted stitching and a hole. I purchased the correct color carpet from ACC and have already installed. I left the shifter hole uncut to allow for the change to a 5 speed if someone so desired. Basically this would be one of the easiest restoration projects that a person could do as this car is basically an original unmolested survivor. I personally would stick a motor and transmission in it and drive it just like it is as I prefer good solid original cars. You just don't find vintage cars like this very often. The car is located in Hueytown, Al, home of the famous Nascar Alabama Gang. To the best of my knowledge it was a local car before my Grandparents obtained it. I have a period correct 289 engine that has just come out of the machine shop with all new parts for the build including a spicy little hydraulic cam. Everything is there to assemble the long block all new, Fel-Pro gaskets set, bearings, rings, cam, lifters, steel timing gear set, crank turned, cylinders honed not needing bored, pistons and rods cleaned and serviced, cam bearings installed, heads rebuilt and new style positive seals have been installed, etc..... I was going to put the engine together and install and get running but I just simply have other projects that I prefer to tackle.
A $500.00 non-refundable PayPal deposit is required within 48 hours after the auction. Balance in cash will be due in 7 days after auction ends. I will aid as best as I can if you plan to transport. All transportation costs are the buyers responsibility. I will store the car for a reasonable amount of time to allow for pick up however full cash payment is due within 7 days. Alabama does not issue titles on vehicles this old, they are sold on a bill of sale. The car has a current registration and a current tag in my name. These two documents and Bill of Sale will get you a title in any state in the Union. Feel free to call with questions. Thank you, Tommy 205-960-6800.
