1962 FORD GALAXIE 500 XL CONVERTIBLE
1962 Ford Galaxie 500 XL Description
1962 Ford Galaxie 500XL Sunliner convertible. Originally an Arizona car, this 1962 Sunliner is an excellent example of the final year for the "Sunliner" series. Previously from dry Arizona, this Sunliner is a solid and rust-free example. Neatly painted in its original "Rangoon Red" it retains all of its original, correct badging and trim (and there is a great deal) including the original center gold grill star - which is often missing on these cars. The original 54 year old die cast and stainless is in remarkable condition. The dent and rust free sheet metal is straight and true. The original highly detailed 500XL interior is spectacular in its condition. The silver mylar original door trim, seat upholstery, rear seat radio speaker grill, console bezel, dash and glove box insignia range from very good to excellent right down to the perfect original floor mats. The correct white pinpoint grain top is in very good, fully functional condition and retracts and raises with ease. The correct redboot is in as-new condition. All glass is in very good original condition. The luggage compartment has freshened with a new correct trunk mat and restored jack assembly and retaining brackets. The Sunliner is powered by a smooth running V8 coupled with a smooth shifting Cruise-O-Matic. Weighing in at 3804 pounds, 209.3 long, 13,183 were produced. Hagerty places an average value of $34,700 and this car and my reserve is considerably less. This is a great opportunity to add a rare top-of-the-line early 60's car to a collection with a tremendous future investment value!
