1998 Ford Ranger Description
This truck was in pretty good shape till I broke a U-joint and cracked the transmission (see pictures). The driveshaft has been replaced with a used one. Unfortunately, the driveshaft took out the muffler when it broke, so there is no muffler under the truck. The truck has been front wreaked twice. Never anything substantial that would bend the frame or cause the insurance company to "Total" the vehicle.
Now for the good news. It still runs to this very day, fires right up. I've had no problems from the 3.0L engine at all, runs great. This truck has been a project ever since I purchased it long ago. I recently installed a new upgraded radiator for a 5.0L Explorer for extra cooling. K & N air filter and intake. The belt driven fan has been swapped for an electric fan activated by a thermostat. The rear end was rebuilt in January 2010 except for the ring and pinion gears. I have receipts for everything mentioned here, btw. New clutch, pressure plate, throw-out bearing, flywheel resurfaced, new slave and master cylinder in March 2009. Upper control arms and lower ball joints in February 2012. FULL brake job in November 2011. By FULL I mean new pads, rotors, shoes, drums, and wheels cylinders. New shocks in May 2010 front and back. New fuel pump in April of 2013. I've always kept up with maintenance on this truck. Synthetic oil changed every 5,000 miles. Spark plugs and wires every 50,000 miles. Transmission, rear differential, and transfer case fluid about every 50,000 miles. Radiator flushes every 50,000 miles.
Non-mechanical upgrades include the stereo, speakers, and subwoofer. Door panels and radio trim have carbon fiber accents. Bigger outside mirrors. Front billet grille. White gauge display. 60/40 bench has been replaced with two bucket seats and a center console. Headlights, turn signals, third brake light, and taillights have been upgraded to clear lenses.
The pictures don't show a battery but one is included. Also, this vehicle is not currently insured or tagged. That and with the transmission damages, there will be no test drives.
