2004 Ford F250 PSD 6.0 Liter Diesel SuperCab Long Bed w/Cap
2004 Ford F-250 Description
This is a 2004 Ford F250 Diesel with some issues.... Last fall it started blowing white smoke, with coolant dripping from the tailpipe. I believe that it is an EGR failure, but it could also be a headgasket - unfortunately the symptoms for both are very similar. I was going to fix it over the winter but never got around to it and ended up getting another F250, so this one has to go...
Before the current issues, I had some problems with the transmission where it would not upshift during hard acceleration. My mechanic felt that it was just a solenoid and since the problem happened rarely I never fixed it. However, I did purchase a used transmission from a 2004 F250 with 120k miles to take the solenoids from. The transmission comes with the truck.
Also, at some point after it started blowing white smoke, it started throwing codes (I don't remember which ones) for the turbo, so I picked up a turbo, also from a 2004 F250. The spare turbo comes with the truck.
Additionally, I got a complete EGR replacement kit (not delete) with gaskets and oil cooler.
Other issues - there are deep scratches on both sides of the truck. The driver's side running board is bent from where my wife high-sided it on a snow bank. And the tailgate is bent and will not open. I have fixed this before by opening it up and lubricating it, but if I was going to keep it I'd get a new tailgate...
Otherwise the truck starts right up every time, has never left me stranded, drives well (other than the plumes of white smoke! :) and has had brake pads and rotors all around in the last 10k miles or so.
The truck starts right up every time even in the winter. AC blows cold, all electrics work with no problems.
The rear tires have less than 2,000 miles on them, the front tires have around 10-15,000.
