Rare 1984 Mustang GT Cobra (tribute) 37,600 original miles 1 of 295 (marti)
1984 Ford Mustang GT Cobra (tribute) Description
Up for auction is Lucy, my wife's Rare (1 of 295) 1984 Mustang GT hatchback Cobra (tribute) with 37,600 original miles. My wife is selling her baby since she can no longer drive it due to illness. I purchased Lucy for my wife as a 25th wedding anniversary gift quite a few years ago. She is a Rust Free, Matching Numbers, two owner car, purchased from original owner's estate. Since Lucy was a low mileage car we wanted the mileage documented, I purchased a CarFax report a few months after she was registered because the DMV would not post the original mileage on the title; CarFax also states wife as second owner. To my knowledge Lucy has been garaged all her life and with still wearing her original clutch I'd say she was never abused.
The interior is in mint condition with the exception of three cracks in driver seat piping and a pin hole in center of seat. All lights, gauges, horn, work properly (digital clock and cigarette lighter even work). The exterior has a few paint chips on driver's door where car doors made contact, two rock chips on hood and a shopping cart ding over passenger rear wheel well.
Marti Report states this is 1 of 295 Mustang GT hatchbacks built with this paint color and trim options. Lucy has her original 5.0 HO motor (which has never been apart), 5 speed manual transmission, 3:08 traction lock posi differential, front power disc brakes, power steering, flip up open air sun roof (its removable and comes with cover), tinted glass, handling suspension, full instrumentation, original AM/FM cassette with 4 way speaker and factory amp, sport bucket seats, front air dam with Marcel fog lamps and covers, light convenience group, and TRX package. Lucy even retains her original quad rear staggered shocks.
As for the Cobra (tribute) original owner family member informed me that her dad really wanted a Cobra Mustang but they no longer made them with exception of putting a Cobra decal on the back panel if you lived in Canada. She thinks some sort of deal was worked out with her dad and the dealer. From what she could tell the dealer added the following; Edelbrock intake and carb, Cobra dress up kit, a non functional hood scoop, rear sport slats, and the Cobra emblems. The Exhaust was also replaced prior to purchasing with; Hedman Ceramic headers, MaxFlow stainless steel exhaust system, catalytic converters, mufflers, pipes and chrome tips. This is where the original factory small tube headers were thrown away.
Since owning Lucy, my wife has had the hood scoop, rear sport slats and Cobra dress up kit repainted; added a new Eedelbrock carb (less than 500 miles ago), Ford Racing plug wires, Accel coil, new distributor, Hurst shifter, and Cobra R replica rims with Federal tires (less than 1000 miles ago) to keep in theme with the Cobra concept. Lucy comes with her original window sticker, Bill of Sale, CarFax report, Marti report, owner's manual, operating manual, computer card, Warranty card (with metal embossed vin), brochure where dad checked off options he wanted on car, and receipts for any work performed on car. Buck tag still affixed to front core support. In addition to the sale of Lucy you will receive; all original parts removed from car (sans factory small tube headers) along with a brand new, never opened; G-Force clutch, pressure plate, and throw out bearing; purchased years ago just in case.
