Ford Sierra Station Wagon Merkur Cosworth Clone
1986 Ford Sierra Station Wagon Cosworth Merkur Clone Description
1986 model Ford Sierra Station Wagon (manufactured 11/85 ) with clear Virginia title in MY name; perfect canvas for your 2.3/LS/ Coyote V8 power-wagon!
The actual VIN is WF0NXXGBBNFK90642 (site does not take European VIN #'s)
Manual steering rack, manual windows, motorcycle size carbureted 1796 OHC Pinto engine with 5 speed transmission, no sunroof (competition shell, right?), no hitch, cracked dashboard, and nearly 32 year old interior would benefit from little shampooing. Most importantly, it is an extinct MK1 with nearly no rust! Car has 164400 kilometers on the odometer and it might go slightly up as it is still being driven.
These cars were the handymen tool of trade, used to build houses, transport/tow anything. No wonder none of the MK1's and especially station wagons are left. MK2' come up once in a blue moon, MK1's are extinct, period. To find one without a hitch is extremely rare as well.
Shape wise, it is definitely a lot easier and more common although far more expensive to find Sierra Cosworth - event they are worth a lot more in parts than as a whole (just ask Gary B).
Ready to get your own dream car?
It does cost a lot of $ to source, retrieve (gallon of fuel in Europe is about $5), get prepped for shipment, steam cleaned before loading (EPA will gladly charge you boat load for cleaning/fumigation if there is something that they don't like), actually ship, retrieve and get on the plates with clear title.
Thus ask yourself, how much extra grey hair do you need? While at it, get familiar with terms such as VACIS, customs drayage, demurrage, TWIC, brokers on sending/receiving end.
Finally, hope, that what you found/paid for in Europe will actually arrive. You have very little leverage against any foreign private seller/ company once you wire the monies.
Enough of facts. Car comes with new sheet-metal arches and full length 4 dr sills - it does not need them (I had those for my 92 sw I used to have & they should stay with the car), extra windshield+all glass but tailgate, dashboard, full weather stripping, interior cards, trunk cladding, tail lamps, windshield arms, full uninstalled roof rack as pictured on the silver car ...
Worst body parts are shown - starting to bubble arches and front slam panel; sills/bottom of the car speaks for itself.
I like Paul Inskeeps design of removable front slam panel and x-brace allowing to slide in the powerplant of your choice.
I am the 4th owner and have had this car since Dec of 2012; heading different direction now.
In the past 1000 kilometers, it has received new timing belt, spark plugs & wires, cap rotor, carb was sonic cleaned, fresh oil/filter, and there are 100 kilometers on new tires (purchased in May 17'), pads/rotors. One used original key, 2 brand new ones; all locks work.
Original Ford radio does not work (I lost the pin); might swap it if I have more time; otherwise I will include this unit as well.
I have more pics and I will add them via external link later as I am allowed to post only 24 pics.
