2002 Ford Excursion Limited 4x4 7.3L Diesel Upgraded Features
2002 Ford Excursion Limited Description
We are selling our 2002 Ford Excursion Limited model 4x4. This truck came out of Texas about 3 years ago and I purchased it about 1.5 years ago. The truck is in nice condition and was my daily driver until recently when I bought a dually to pull our new camper. My brother was the previous owner and he did a lot of work to the truck before buying a newer Excursion so I bought this one.
The truck was a good solid truck to start with. He did a 2005 front end conversion to the newer style grill with a custom hood. The headlight assemblies are aftermarket. The mirrors are the later style aftermarket mirrors that could be power folding, heated, lighted but the heated and power folding is not hooked up ($480 here from Ebay). He had the entire truck repainted when the front end conversion and hood was done black with a fade to silver/metallic gray at the bottom. Very nice. LED tail lights.
Mechanically sound the 7.3L turbo runs great. He installed a new Edge programmer in October 2015 always set to tow mode, never performance. New Nitto Terra Grappler tires and new wheels with shocks, bushings, etc done in October 2015 (have receipt $2600+) and have less than 8,000 miles on them, they look new. Truck has auto switch 4x4 with manual lock outs on the front. Everything works as it should mechanically. When the truck was painted (2 years ago) he found a little rust around one of the roof rack bolts so that area was repaired and the entire roof coated in bed-liner type covering before installing the roof rack back on. Has engine heater plug for winter use. There is no rust anywhere including under steps, frame, wheel wells, etc...
Has the 3rd row seat with plenty of room for passengers or it slides out or folds up to make room for lots of cargo. Truck has towing package (maybe they all do?) and pulls great and trailer plugs work perfect. Aftermarket radio also has backup camera installed. This was my daily driver here in town until I got a dually to pull our 5th wheel camper. I'm happy to answer questions about the truck that aren't obvious in pictures or description. It's a great truck with a hard to kill 7.3 diesel. The check engine light is on and code comes back to glow plug. I was told by mechanic it would be the glow plug themselves (not sure how many are working/not working) as it does come on and cycle the plugs that are working. They will need to be changed at some point although I drove it for two winters with no problems. If you are in a northern climate I would imagine it might be harder on it and they would need to be changed sooner.
Nice looking truck that can be driven home any time!
