Low mileage ZX2 in very good condition. This car has always been my "back-up" car. But I just bought a Subaru Forester and I also have an F-150. This is now one car too many. So it has to go. I bought it off of E-bay approximately seven years ago. It had been driven by a little old lady and only had 35,000 miles on it when I first got it. In the intervening years, I have managed to put another 43,000 miles on it. The odometer now reads 77,567 miles.
I would rate the car in pretty good condition. The heat and A/C works, as do the electric windows. The interior is in very good condition. My son replaced the tape cartridge radio with a better CD radio. I kept the car in mechanically very good condition- I had it serviced at Isaacs Service (on College Point Blvd- if you know them, you know they are very good). The tires have a lot of tread left on them. The former owner did smoke and left a cigarette burn in the driver's seat. But it has not been smoked in since and there is no smoke odor. Mostly I used this car to take my dog to Kissena Park once or twice a day. The black stuff in the back seat (see photo) is dog hair.
The not so good: The engine light is on. According to Isaac, it is not worth fixing. I reset it prior to the annual inspection and it goes back on shortly thereafter. According to "Car Talkâ€, this is one of those fixes that is best "repaired" with a piece of black electrician's tape- place it over the dashboard engine light. It has been this way ever since I bought the car. The left front tire loses air and needs to be pumped up every other month. But the tires were replaced less than 3000 miles ago. Finally, as with all Escorts, the engine and tranny shudders when you are applying the brakes and are stopped. They shudder less if in park, but they still shudder. My nephew thought there was something wrong with the car when he first heard it. I told him the only problem with this car is it is an Escort- they all do it.
I really like this car- it is a lot of fun to drive. It handles like a Ferrari but accelerates like a farm tractor. I no longer need it and it is now sitting in my driveway- sans plates or insurance. The registration is good thru July, 2018. The inspection expired last month. It does run, you can back it up and drive it back and forth on the driveway, but not on the street. It has no plates or insurance. So, before you drive it away, you will need to provide plates and proof of insurance (or a trailer). I also have new, replacement headlights (the box and blue wrapped bag in the trunk). The current ones are fine- but the plastic is a little cloudy. I also have Escort Factory Service Manuals.
This car is No Reserve starting out at $49.99 and will go to the highest bidder in one week. As an opt out, you can "Buy It Now" for $1,800.00- or you can make an offer through Ebay which, should I accept it, would end the auction.
I have created a video of the car at: https://youtu.be/R5jUV9v5R04
Will trade for 1982 Yamaha XJ1100- running or not.
Thanks and Good luck.
