2008 Ford Mustang GT Convertible 2-Door Description

This 2008 Ford Mustang Shelby GT/SC convertible represents a rather rare opportunity to own a pedigreed Shelby Mustang, and a rare one at that. The Shelby GT was an attempt to bridge the gap between the Mustang GT and the Shelby GT500, but along the line, this one was fortified with a Shelby-installed Hot Rod 4.6 liter V8 and a Whipple supercharger, essentially making it a fully-documented, one-of-a-kind Shelby. If this was 1966 and you had this chance to buy such an animal, you wouldn't hesitate, right? Ford only built the Shelby GT in 2007 and 2008, and 2008 is the only year convertibles were available. Ford dealers had the option of sending their Shelby GT to the factory for a supercharger upgrade, creating the GT/SC, and Shelby records suggest about 100 cars were upgraded. This car was returned to Shelby Automobiles Inc. in Las Vegas in 2010 for the supercharger upgrade, and while it was there, it also received a Ford Racing 4.6L Hot Rod engine, heavy-duty clutch, and a number of other upgrades, all of which are documented by Shelby Automobiles and essentially making this a one-of-one Shelby GT/SC convertible. It wears beautiful Vista Blue paint, a bright electric blue that seems to glow in the twilight and really accentuating the Mustang's retro shape. It also has gray stripes and a modest body kit from Shelby that make the Shelby GT look unique, and with just 12,281 original miles, it remains in outstanding condition. Details like the billet grille, hood pins, and scoops in the rear quarters all recall the early Shelby GT350, a detail which is surely intentional, but none of it seems over-done, another hallmark of Shelby's work. The interior is pretty much stock Mustang, which is a good thing. The charcoal gray leather upholstery is in excellent condition and just about everything was standard on the Shelby GT. The Hurst shifter with a cue ball knob tops the 5-speed manual gearbox and there's a Shelby snake embroidered on the armrest cover, just as on the GT500 of the '60s, and, of course, there's a serialized number plate and Carroll Shelby's signature in the center of the dash. When the engine was upgraded with the supercharger, a trio of auxiliary gauges were added in a custom gauge pod that looks OEM, and a few custom chrome touches dress up the monochromatic interior. There's a black canvas power top with a tinted glass rear window, and the trunk is usable enough if you're going to take a vacation in your Shelby ragtop. The engine is the important part, so here are the details: 516 horsepower and 494 pounds of torque at the rear wheels, dyno proven. That's stout. The three-valve 4.6 modular motor from Ford Racing Performance Parts obviously slots right in there and it carries all the OEM hardware and wiring, so it runs like a stocker. It's been tuned to make it easy to drive, but massive acceleration is waiting below your right foot at all times. The 5-speed doesn't seem to mind the power and with the upgraded clutch, it snaps through the gears with authority when you're running hard. The chassis is like new and includes the Ford Racing performance handling package, which accounts for the lowered ride height and razor-sharp reflexes. Oversized Shelby disc brakes with cross-drilled rotors and 6-piston front calipers ensure it'll stop as well as it goes and custom Shelby-spec wheels carry 255/45/18 front and 275/40/18 rear performance radials.Fully documented with the window sticker, dyno sheets, Shelby Automobiles authenticity letter, receipts, and title documentation, this is one heck of a car. The rarity is simply icing on the cake. Call today!
